  • Okay guys, here are a few more photos for you to look at. I have picked out 12 Cigar Hunnies and will soon have about 1000 calendars ready to go. Damn they are a bit pricey unless I want to print 5,000 of them.

www.brianminson.com is where you can find more of the girls. Put up 8 photos today, have 4 more I will try and get to this week.

Cigar.com should sells these :) HINT HINT
  • Nice, you should keep all but around three of them.

Nice photos Brian. I'm really liking some of the new additions. Kate looks especially hot, almost looks like she thought it was a porn audition....I'd be interested to know what they do with the cigars after the photo shoot. A little Bill Clinton action perhaps? :D
  • I have been showing them how to cut them, toast the foot, lite and enjoy the cigars. On top of it all, letting them know to buy from Cigar.com.... I won't say anything about what some of them have or have not done with the cigars :) lol

    Looking Good

    Two suggestions

They should be smoking the cigars!

This would give a whole new depth to your photos with the smoke in the pictures.

Like in the CAO Brazillia photo you should maybe be able to see the band. Although the MFG may have a problem with you selling a calendar with there trademarks on it.
  • Ok and update!!! I have been working for the "man" lol hahahahaha for over 15 years, and I guess am ready to see if I can walk on water! :)

Made phone calls to friends who are consultants in the magazine industry and even talked to my boss about my idea of a Girls and Cigar magazine or journal.

I would like to get your guys and gals input on what you would like to see in a magazine like this. My outline includes three sections of girls a main feature/center fold, and two smaller features. I don't think I need to review cigars, or talk about $10,000 watches. Keep it to the point, beautiful girls smoking cigars.

Here is just a sample home page for the idea, and suggested subscription costs (don't buy it now its not ready) Please, give me some feed back on what you would like to see to, and if you would consider subscribing.

If it's just about the girls, they have to be incredibly hot and well-exposed. If it's a magazine that specializes in pictures of decent-looking girls holding cigars, I see that getting old pretty fast. If it's a magazine that has 1-3 main segments about cigars (reviews, industry news, education), and throws in two or three sections of lady-pics, with and without cigars (maybe a sprinkling of both), it would have the potential to outsell the existing cigar mags (or inspire them to change their formats).

As it stands right now, it sounds like you're creating a magazine with pictures of women who don't look as good as the chicks in Playboy, but the women are holding cigars. I'd rather look at pics of incredibly hot women while smoking a cigar, than look at pics of attractive-but-not-jaw-dropping women who happen to be also holding cigars.

Unless of course they're all naked... That changes everything...

    LMAO!

I gotta agree with Duty on this one. A magazine of girls that smoke cigars , no. A magazine of cigars that has girls in it, Definitely.
  • This is good stuff, just what I was looking for. What are the other magazines not doing, that you would like to see?

I think a lot of people here find the other mags much more luxury-lifestyle-oriented than cigar-oriented, and extremely pretentious. A cigar magazine with sensible reviews of cigars that regular people can buy and smoke, together with other, similar cigar-related material would hit the sweet spot. And chicks.

I think what Urbs is trying to say here is... The "typical" cigar rag generally has a COUPLE of reviews and articles on cigars... The BULK of it is full spread advertisements for things like Rolex and other watches that are so fuggin ugly they HAVE to be expensive, Ferrari/Porche/Lexus, etc... I think what urbs is looking for is a rag that if it has advertisements has advertisements for Crasftsman, Sony, Hyundai, etc... LOL ohh, and escort services .... Stick out tongue [:P]
  • Am feeling you guys :) Let me make some phone calls to freelance writers and see. Any of you guys willing to accept a hand full of new sticks to test and write about them?

You don't need to do a huge run of calendars like in the old days. Go to zazzle.com, design your calendar, and let them sell it for you. Good customer service and quality products.

I'd be up for some writing in exchange for cigars. You may want to go into the ratings & reviews thread and see if any of the review styles in that section appeal to you, and solicit those individuals via PM.

Actually if it's for a magazine you'll want to provide a "guideline" of sorts for the reviews... A standardized form of sorts... For example, any areas where you "rank" something will need to be quantified in some way... Let's say we're talking about flavor profile... Let's say the scale is from 1 to 5... You'll need something to base that scale off of or otherwise it's completely subjective... You might have 1 - 5 Vegas Gold 3 - Gurkha Regent 5 - Opus X... If you don't have a quantified scale then it's all relative to the different reviewers... One person's 2 might be another's 4...

As a reader, if there is no consitantancy, then I'm screwed...

Now that's not to say cramp the writers style... Certainly they need to be able to elaborate their own opinions and describe in their own words their thoughts about a particular smoke, but certainly have some basic criteria that much be there first...

Talking of reviews, who says it has to be one person or one group of select people? It would be neat to get submissions from several people and weed out the top say five or so. It could be an ever changing review group that might give a good spectrum of how a certain cigar may appeal to a certain flavor preference group, since many of us have different preferences in our cigars.
  • That is what I have been thinking, give the normal guy a chance to say what he thinks!!! I have been busy on the phone the past few days. Instead of 100k Porsches (while I love my Porsches), have an in with FORD and they are willing to help with articles on Mustangs, and Trucks. Called a friend who is in the travel magazine biz, gave me a few ideas for travel stories for the regular Joe Plummer (lol) and more!

Guys keep the ideas coming this might work!

  • This is a call out to those who want to submit articles or ideas to Cigar Hunnies, drop me an email at idrivea9 at yahoo dot com(e).

Am meeting with a printer in San Diego next week to go over printing and subscription options. :)

Man I missed all of this. I love an idea born on the forums. How many subscribers do you have? I'm definetly willing to subscribe, write reviews, articles and help out in any way that I can. Once you get some printed send me a few and I'll leave them in the cigar shoppes I frequent. As much as I travel I should be able to leave a one in at least a half dozen shoppes a month.

I love your regular Joe the Plumber comment. Run with that, I hate CA bc none of the articles pertain to me or anyone I know. You should run with the antithesis of CA, make it the everymans good-life magazine. The Maxim of the cigar world.
  • Okay today is a snow day for us with about a foot of fresh snow! I took the time to finish up the www.cigarhunnies.com website. Check it out!
