Re: humidity opinions
deejmemixx: CvilleE: skweekz:What sponge are you speaking of? It's been my experience that anything involving cigars and a sponge is destined for bad news. +1...Check on getting some beads or the boveda packs (not the small humi pillows), between the two you can't go wrong.... Beads for the win +1,000,000 I fought with… -
Box of Cigars dropped RH by 8%?
New to humidors and novice at cigars. Thanks in advance for help. Wife bought me a humidor for my bday in May - Case Elegance Glass Top. Seasoned over the course of several weeks using jus the hydro tray and solution; held steady above 70% per instructions for 5 days before adding a few cigars I got for Fathers Day and it… -
Re: Hot ambient temperature effects?
Good questions from you guys that should keep us on our toes and I know a lot of us have dealt with these issues from time to time. Outside ambient temperature does have an effect on cigars as we want to mimic the environment they came from and as was said it's mostly about the relative humidity and keeping it… -
Re: New humidor and hygrometers
jgibv: Patrickbrick:64% is fine add more sticks and relax. Just remember the more you open the lid the worse it is. Sounds to me as though you have a fine seal. +1 You are on the right track, JRigs. Just need a little patience and some more time for everything to stabilize. Give it until, let's say Saturday or Sunday, and… -
Re: Help me Please!
This story I've heard about many times....that cigars were left in a humidor for along time and dried out. The problem as you've probably been told is that cigars have oils in them that cannot be reintroduced after they've been dried out. The only way to maintain any cigar is to keep them in a thriving environment of 70/70… -
Re: Freezing cigars...any thoughts
Lee.mcglynn: catfishbluezz:Yet another reason I am buying a wineador. Let alone, they smoke better. I had heard it does not take much time for them to breed, so if a box has been in the mail and heat for days....wiuldnt they have hatched by then??? I inspect regularly, and ive seenu humis get over 80 but rh is 65 without… -
Re: Thoughts on my Humi situation
The RH continues to fall 1% per day. I usually only let it fall to 62% before I recharge my beads again. My humidor had between 50-60 smokes in it and is a 150 count humidor so it wasn't full but wasn't empty by any means. I have since reseasoned it and touched up on the seals. I wiped down the wood with a damp sponge and… -
Re: Cigar noob
First you need to season the Humi. Google search "Seasoning a Humidor". After you season it you should be between 64-70RH and 62-70deg. Too hot/humid you may have some beatle crawling around in there. Its a good humi I had 2, gave one to my pops and still use one for me. Aging is up to you and you will find ones that age… -
Re: Keeping the Temp down in a humidor
Bombay:Thanks guys. I think it is easier for me to drop the humidity then proceed on some of those other suggestions, a little less of a hassle and a lot less expensive. So if I did drop the humidity to say 65-69 should the 74/75 temp be good then? I know it is a bit of a personal choice, I just want to make sure I don't… -
Re: A no cigar trade, I need gel, or beads. Anyone like coins? (Deal made!)
Salem: smoke em if you got em:What percentage beads are you looking for? Some of us use 65% others use 70%, I have even seen some 60% beads out there. I use both 65 and 70...I have 70 in my cooler and the first humi I bought..and 65 in the humi that the wifey bought me for xmas. I have half of pound of 65% beads…
