also hidden in there: Government health care, 30 million for salt marsh harvest mouse, $45 million for ATV trails, $300 million for the government to purchase a fleet of "green" cars and golf carts, $2 billion for a clean-coal power plant, $10 million for urban canals,$2 billion for manufacturing advanced batteries for hybrid cars, $255 million for a polar icebreaker and other "priority procurements" by the Coast Guard, and many more unneeded spending projects in a bill that is now 1071 pages long. How do the members of congress have time to read that let alone the american people.all of this with 62% of voters wanting more tax cuts and less spending in the bill (according to a Rasmussen poll)

    AND
If it passes will Obama sign it within 24 hours or will he wait the 5 days he promised he would wait to sign any bill in his campaign?

this is sort of on topic: A Moral Note on the Paradox of Thrift

for those who dont know, my brother has his own blog. thats a link to an article. he and i are both libertarians (he influences me more than me, him) I am a bit more on the conservative end of it, he is a bit more liberal. we end up agreeing on about 80-90% of issues.

so much for transperency, thats been his new key, no more hope and change, just fear and transperency(sp?)...no reason to be scared because you see it coming right? the amnesty is no surprise, now that the dems are in charge they will bring up all this stuff that they fought with bush on.

IMO, this bill is nothing more than that, a dem "christmas list", that has very little stimulus and even less chance of being shot down, no party should have this much control of the gpvernment

well doing some research, seems as though this is more than it seems. I'm still looking but the democrats are the ones who usually try to stop this kind of immigrations, bush and the republican's are the ones who normally want this type of stuff. when I get off work I'm going to look into this much more though..

Bush and a few other Republicans have fought for amnesty before, but most republicans fight against it. The democrats are the ones that always fight for illegal imigrants rights to march right on in here and start sucking up our tax dollars. Bush was for an amnesty bill during his terms, but the other republicans shot that down. Bush has different views on this than most of the party and I believe that is in part due to the fact that he has a hispanic sister-in-law. This is a main issue I disagreed with him on.

puro, democrats aren't always for immigration amnesty and less restrictions.

true, not every dem is for it but the majority is, the DNC is. the reason it was shotdown before was b/c there was an uproar by constituents, we could fight it again but now that the dems have a larger majority its not going to be easy.

phebes you sound more like a liberal leaning libertarian than a pinko-commie liberal

if im not mistaken, both the left and the right were against the amnesty thing before. something that (again if i remember correctly) 70% (ish) of america was against.

there were just a few very loud voices making a big stink about it. this is one of the few bi-partisan topics out there.

No, they aren't and I wasn't saying all were, but illegal immigrants rights is a big thing that the majority of the Democrat party pushes. Many of them even want Illegals to have the right to vote here in our elections.

okay so it seems that harry reed introduced this, and it's not attached to the stimulus bill, in fact it hasn't even hit committee yet. and harry reed is a real dumbass so there's no surprise to this. I doubt it will pass or even get very far especially in the current form.

iduno... never put it past a politician who isnt up for re-election for a few years to do something as dumb as this.
