Opened a tin of Astley's No. 99 last night. Have had 3 bowls. I have to say right now it is one of the worst Lat. blends I have tried to date. It has 2 yrs. 9 months on it and it still bites and has a distinct plastic taste to it. I will put some in a jar for a week or so and see if that helps but I doubt this one will… -

This morning after breakfast and getting a pot roast started in the crock pot and doing the dishes, I mixed together about 3 grams of old, dry G&H Revor plug with 1 gram of fresh, moist G&H Bosun Plug, chopped it up and mixed it on my new concave cutting board with my ulu knife, and put it in my Hilson estate calabash… -

I know what you mean about the draw. Sometimes I think it is the blend. I mean pipe tobacco is far milder than cigars, even the fuller blends IMO. One thing that helped me pick up on the draw is to allow more air in. I mean after the first puff of a 2 puff draw (I never draw more than twice which may help with bite too) as… -

I havent decided how i feel about this blend yet. smells like cherry cordials in the tin. smokes like an aro with bread and sugar while being a virgina tasting grassy with some spice, pumpkin and cinnimon. its very very light, cool, whispy and gosh does it smoke forever, 2 hours on a 3/4" straight brandy. I love the Joie de Vivre. I was able to pick up a few of tins of it that already have over 4 years...put two in the cellar and opened one to see how well it is aging.
