Re: Humi Temp?
For cigars that are to be smoked (everyday smokes) I see no reason not to keep them at 68-70. For aging, I would not keep them over 65%, perhaps 60-62%. I have over 60 boxes of cigars aging between 2-10 years, and have never had a problem with wrappers, burn issues, beetles or mold. All kept between 60-65%. I think you… -
Re: Minato-esque reviews
Tonight’s smoke was the Inch Nicaragua from EPC. It is a 5”x 62 cigar with an appearance that would make some men envious. Pre light the cigar looks very veiny ( no pun intended) yet has a smooth feel to it. Initial light brings about enormous amounts of smoke that cover the palate with earthy notes of moss on a foggy… -
Re: Can't get my humidity down
I would move that humi to somewhere else in the house even just for now. Give it a day and see if the humidity has changed. The beads caqn be overcharged too, and then they cannot regulate the way they are intended to. If they are too wet they will just sit there giving off excess humidity until they dry out to the level… -
Re: Yet ANOTHER Humidor Question
Keeping cigars at a certain RH is one of those topics that people have according to their own experiences and the 'book' says to keep them between 62-70% which is accurate...anything over 70% encourages beetles to hatch...they hatch in tobacco over 70% but that's another topic altogether. Some cigars smoke better at… -
Re: Issues after moving to Whynter CHC-120S
I sure do. I experienced this a lot recently with my 20 count traveldor. Finally figured out that I had a 72% boveda in there And the sticks I put in the day before were dryer on the inside then on the outside. They weren't so much tunneling as much as they were just burning a little quicker on the inside than they were on… -
Re: I am a cheap date
cheap date?....maybe..... But there are other factors that are contributing to the phenomena that you are experiencing (finding that a lesser "priced" smoke is, in your experience, "better" that one you paid more for, or is listed as more expensive) 1) your palate - it's unique, what you like/dislike is different from… -
Re: Looking for 1 more tidbit on seasoning
Tough day for me :(........As you all have seen from this thread, I had sustained a constant RH level for over 24 hrs at 72% (seasoned for over 48 hours with a bowl) and decided it would be alright to put the beads in. After replacing the bowl of distilled water with the beads and a 69% humi pack the RH dropped to 62% and… -

Re: tunneling
I've also toyed with the notion that this occurs when ANY change in humidity is coming... For instance: My cigars lately have been burning quite perfectly and I've enjoyed some of the best cigars in quite some time, but that's because my house has been cool enough I don't have to turn on my wine firdge and warm enough that… -
