Re: Loose Lucy's
gaberox:I like a medium firm draw that still produces plenty of smoke, I naturally go for the 3 puff method so a super loose draw is not my preference. I dont like barely pulling and getting a huge hit of hot smoke. Its been a very long time since Ive had a plugged cigar so guess im lucky. I used to get lots of plugged… -
Re: Making my own humidor
SkippyGun:Thanks JDH!!! I definitely do understand the concept of the larger humidor, everyone. If I think a 50ct is big enough, then I should actually build me a 100ct. That would definitely be a good idea considering the cost is not much more. But I definitely can't make a walk-in. As much as I would love to, I don't… -
Re: damaged cedar
I doubt that you ruined your humidor. I would NOT use the cedar of the humidor as a secondary humidification device! Stop wetting the wood, please. The Spanish Cedar lining of the humidor is designed to help regulate the humidity by absorbing some humidity when needed and giving it back when needed. Wetting the wood on a… -
Re: Boveda Seasoning Complete ... I think?
I will need to get some distilled water. I don't have any at the moment. I just opened the door to take a picture of the added cigars I put in and the humidity dropped 4 points immediately. It will creep back up and hold at about 62 again though if I go back and look in about 30 minutes. It's been as high as 65 ... but not… -
Re: Same tobacco different flavors
No truth to that. There have been dozens of experiments confirming that cherries and ashes of larger ring gauges are hotter at the core. A conceptual experiment: Imagine that you took a bïrch twig and set it on fire. Take the temp of the twig and all of the air around the twig. Now, set a bïrch forest on fire. The heat… -
Re: What's the best way to get started developing your palate & filling your humidor?
ejgorman:A classmate started me out on Ashton classics and I remember enjoying those more than any of my random purchases. I already plan on starting with milder cigars and working my way up to find my niche. I doubt my palate could appreciate a really full-bodied smoke at this point. I'm sure my preferences will change… -
Re: Coolidor
I bought these beads. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HWE6F0/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_dp_1 I bought this cooler http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G64I1A/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_dp_p2 After much research, I decided to go for it doing the "on-the-fly" method, using the KL without any "training". I made five 1/4lb. KL… -
Re: Renewed Amnesty Bill Hidden Within Stimulus Package
also hidden in there: Government health care, 30 million for salt marsh harvest mouse, $45 million for ATV trails, $300 million for the government to purchase a fleet of "green" cars and golf carts, $2 billion for a clean-coal power plant, $10 million for urban canals,$2 billion for manufacturing advanced batteries for… -
Re: La Perla Habana WIDE torpedo
0patience:Are they serious? 62 ring gauge. This is one of those cigar that I'm not even interested in considering. Is this appealing to anyone and am I missing something with this large ring gauge thing? It's similar to the whole huge watch trend. I've always liked watches and had a pretty big collection but got rid of… -
Re: Humidity Level Preferences; I Like My Cigars At XX% More Than YY%
I have a cigar medic, a super inexact fun tool that measures Rh of tobacco. The RH of every single stick that I've ever measured at the halfway point is 99 percent RH at the foot. 99 percent, no deviations. Inaccuracies aside, I attribute this to the fact that at the combustion line, the moisture of the leaf, which…
