I don't yet know if it'll work using first class mail but with priority mail done via the USPS website you can schedule a pickup for when your mail carrier drops off your mail. That feature has saved me a lot of trips to the post office... 

They don't deliver to my house.
We have to go 2 blocks down the road to the community birdhouse/mailboxes and pickbuo our mail. And if its a package, they put the package in the big birdhouses and put the key in our mailbox.

I love living in a place where it's small, everyone knows your name and there is no big stores with in 70 miles.

Yes its that easy and you can also get a debit card that is linked to your paypal.com account. Makes it really easy to keep track of your purchases

Follow that Paypal link,
print the postage on a regular white sheet of paper from your home computer,
cut out the label
and tape it onto your box. 

Also.....If you're using Priority Mail flat rate the Paypal link will save you around $1/package, versus paying retail price at the post office.

And like @WaterNerd , you can also link a debit card, bank account, or credit card to Paypal as well .... so you don't need to "load money" into Paypal, it will simply charge your linked card/account.
