    Don't believe I've ever tasted absinthe. Wasn't the original poisonous or something?

    Nope. I just checked Wikipedia and it wasn't supposedly poisonous, it was supposedly addictive. 

    I knew I remembered something off-kilter about it. I guess I was thinking of the wormwood ingredient and thought it was a poison. Damn!!  Wrong again....  :#

    The original had an extract of worm wood that caused mild hallucinations and a euphoric feeling. Popular with artists, writers, and actors in the early 1900s.

    No but if it's made wrong it'll make you hallucinate.
    That's one of the reasons it was illegal in the United States for so long.  It's made out of wormwood, that is not on the FDA list of edible substances.

    I've picked up a bottle in Mexico once in a while, it doesn't make me poop, hallucinate nor taste good enough to get drunk, I think the mystique is greater than the product
