Thanks for the interesting contest @IndustMech. So, just what is wrong with this car that it is taking so long to repair?0
-
The engine misfires. Then the check engine light comes on.

What're you going to do when it's out of warranty and they expect you to start footing the bill?"I could've had a Mi Querida!" Nick Bardis0

Great contest John, sorry about the bad luck on the vehicle.
Congrats Paul and Kevin.
Think I have mentioned this in a different thread but the best tool I have ever bought for car maintenance was a bluetooth adaptor for OBD ll, can get it for $2.66 if you can wait for the boat from China. Paired with the Torque Pro app for an additional $5 you have some tools that can save you big bucks on auto maintenance.A little dirt never hurt0 -
And so far, what fault codes have they come up with?IndustMech said:The engine misfires. Then the check engine light comes on.
Is this a dealer? Or indy shop?
Have they reflashed the ECM?
So many questions need answers?
I train people who diagnose these kinds of problems.
So for me to hear about shops not getting something like this right, is pretty dis-heartening.
Agree with sentiments on the Torque pro app, but if it's a Ford, I use the FordSys Pro app.

I remember reading the thread about the Bluetooth OBD II. I'd need to pick one up.I know, You're a big dog and I'm on the list.

It's been at the dealer. factory trained, I assume.
Don't want to post too much about it, pending litigation...
I can't wait for it to be resolved, so I can talk about it.I know, You're a big dog and I'm on the list.

P0301 and P0302 then should be the codes.
I hope it gets resolved.
I've been involved in a lot of litigation proceedings and it's never fun for the consumer.
By now, the lemon law should have been invoked and a replacement vehicle should have been supplied to you.
A few years ago, an insurance company that is "on your side" called me to go look at a Jeep that was in a shop and they claimed that the engine just seized when they were test driving it. The folks that owned it had it in there for an oil change and then started having problems. So it went back and then the engine siezed while they were "checking out the problem".
So they sent me out, I checked it out. No oil. Bearings failed and the engine was destroyed. While investigating it, I may not of oil left in engine, coolant level and condition, spark plug numbers, filter numbers, etc.
In going over everything, found that the filter installed by the shop was the wrong filter. When the shop was confronted by the insurance company, they said they installed the correct one and even checked the part number from the parts store.
At this time, the couple thought they were screwed until I found in one of my pictures, an image of a dealer recall sticker that had been installed on the firewall.
Showing the correct filter. (see picture).
The insurance company paid for a new engine and the shop had to pay the insurance company.
I made $600 for my time.

Um uh, somehow there was 2 winners but 3 packages. After giving an addy for the destination to send my winnings to good ole John decided to send me a note about it. Of course no note can travel that far without escorts. Thanks @IndustMech, watch your back. LOL.

Don’t think I haven’t noticed you all do these shenanigans when I’m on the boat and don’t get on much!1
