Behike 56
Hey guys- I'm new here so pardon me if this is an overdone subject but I recently purchased a box of 10 Cohiba Behike 56's from a trusted source. When they came, all was true to form with the box, packaging etc. The cigars look great and for the most part the bands look legit (pics attached) but the one thing that has me hung up is the "Cohiba" nameplate is very orangey in person (does not render as bad in pic but it is more orange than yellow) and it has me wondering if I was duped. Any thoughts on how can verify if these are legit or fake???

Sorry guys meant the "Habana, Cuba" label is orangey.0

Based on normal Cohiba practices I would have said probably fake, but the Cigar afficianado review of the cigar shows a striking similarity to yours.

If you're super worried about it, just smoke one and send the band in to get another opinion if you want (address near bottom of page)

Thx for the feedback guys. @TX98Z28, I don't have any box codes that I'm aware of. @miller65rod, can you share with me what you based that decision on? I paid $900 USD for the box of 100

To me, Bob, some cigars are just worth it. However in my opinion this is not one of them, but that is actually what the current market is demanding for them, just a few years ago these were around $50.00 each. Hold back production, put a boss ass band on a mediocre stick with a huge name behind it and that's what you get.

All u have to do is look at the Cohiba Taino Indian head. Black outline not centered. The neck area should run from corner to corner on 2 of the white squares forming 2 perfect triangles. There are many more indicators. Embossing looks like shiit. The bands are fake and so are the cigars. No box code not good. In 2014 the band changed as well to add even more security features. I doubt these are prior to 2104.
U can wish all u want but your source is not a source. I have attached a picture of a real band. Look at how crisp everything is. Behikes are Cohiba's Cadillac cigar and everything is very prestine. Cuba is not perfect at times but those bands look like shiit. Behikes are one of the most faked cigars around because of the price they command. In the future only by from a real trusted source or a La Casa Del Habano authorized dealer.

@miller65rod just made me a bit smarter today when it comes to cigars.
I have a rule. Once I make a purchase like this, I stop investigating. It is too late, so I enjoy what I have. Do not want to know if it is a fake or could have been purchased for less. Hope those cigars smoke well for you.

Yeap. Usually if your asking you already know the answer. Just like when you get Cubans and you complain to the vendor that they have mold on them. The reply is always "PLUME"
Counterfeiters are getting better and better with these bands. But just like money they will continue to make changes to them etc. to keep up with them.
If your gonna spend that much on seegars you better make sure they are legit. I only buy from La Casa Del Habano sites anymore. While it is not 100% safe it is better than anything else out there.

These could be had for less than 30 a piece just a few years ago. Then there was a shortage of the Medio tiempo leaf and whalla. Price hike. Me personally I believe the price hike remained with anticipation of the embargo being lifted and Cubans being sold in the U.S. When that didn't happen, they seen they could still command these prices so why change.
Behikes are still hard to come by. I have traveled to many countries over the last few years and I have yet to find anyone with stockage of Behike's. Not even a single. That is only at authorized distributors though. They are available at other shops but I will not even buy from there regardless of price.
I would be willing to bet that over the last 4-5 years that 1/4 of Behikes smoked in the good ole USA have been fake. The number is probably a lot higher IMO.
Speaking of taboo. I love how many sites continue to say Cuban cigars are taboo or it is a bad word. You can't say that or u need to say ISOM. U will be banned from the board. Moderator sick'm.....Oh please nooooooooo !!!! Wake up and smell the f'n coffee people.
Cuban cigars are brought into this country daily, either via postal or hand carried. Americans are buying them in droves. Why do you continue to see low stock levels at some shops? When the demand goes up, so do prices and so do the fakes as well. Anyone that says Cubans are still the greatest cigars has blinders on. Cuba can still produce those great cigars but they rarely do anymore. Now they seem to be focused on John Holmes ring gauges or pushing out crappy Regionals for 5 times the price. It's a shame because many of the smaller ring gauge cigars are just excellent and flavorful. The classic ones are being phased out as well.
There is one site I visit occasionally and all they do is bash non Cuban cigars. Too funny. Non Cuban cigars have a huge market place and when you are overseas they demand a very high price as well. Much higher than Cuban cigars in some shops. I mostly smoke CC's but regardless of where it is made if it is a great cigar I will smoke it and continue to smoke it. I have some great non Cubans. We are in a great time when it comes to seegars. Don't worry the Govt will f that up for us one day, like they are trying now.
Are Behikes worth what they are selling for now. Helllll no. Are they worth $30.00 maybe and that may be a stretch.
A Behike is cigar made for a seasoned smoker IMO. If you have a diverse palate you can appreciate everything about this cigar. Like most high priced things many are gobbled by those who want to impress others and probably have no idea what the cigar truly reveals when smoked. But look at me I got a 90.00 cigar between my lips. I'm special u shiiit bag peasants. Those who bought them for what they were made for can truly appreciate what is being accomplished with this marca.
What the f do I know though.

Be sure to check of the "Bum of the week" thread also. It's always trending #1 on Twitter.
BTW did you get refunded? If not then lesson learned. It happens a lot in this business.
As I stated there are many other reasons I say they are fake. Compare the cap of you what you have to a real Behike. Notice the difference. Just another telling sign.

Thanks for the response, love your posts! Trying to get $$ back but the retailer is standing behind the "authenticity" of the sticks. The battle goes on! Definite lesson learned on this one I won't soon forget.

Hey guys- know it's been awhile but one of your posts in the thread above directed me to a link to a cigar aficionado page that does gratis cigar evaluations if you have any questionable cigars. After many discussions back and forth that ultimately led me to actually ship the Behike's to NY offices of Cigar Aficionado they came back with the news I was looking for in this whole fiasco.
For those that are interested they unequivocally determined that the Behike's I have are 100% genuine and authentic. I was really surprised as I was sure (as were many here) that what I was sold were fakes. It was determined that they. had the old hologram pattern which dates them prior to 2014. The guys at Cigar Aficionado could not have been more helpful, informative and nice to work with.
The journey for the truth is ending with them, I'm going to solicit second opinions; just not worth the time.
Just thought I'd share that outcome so others that may want potential fakes evaluated have a place to go.
Thanks guys, happy smoking.

Just an FYI even the 2010 release does not have a black head in the band, nor does the 2013.

The head is not blackout appears that way in the photo due to the angle I took the photo and the lighting. It is a hologram head as it should be.
