Happy New Year

It is interesting, how we mark off time. We have a stack of paper, 12 pieces with squares that have numbers on them; some have one through thirty-one, some have one through thirty, and one has one through twenty-eight. We tear off each page or flip it over as we go, and when we get to the last one there's a new stack of 12 pages behind it with the next number at the top, and we think it's something new and fresh. It's been especially interesting this year to see how we comment and reflect on 2020, wishing it to be over more quickly in hopes that 2021 will prove to be more to our liking. But it's just another number on just another page, just another sheet of paper with no guarantees of being better, nor of being worse. Some of you have more sheets left than the sheets already torn off, some have already torn off almost all of the sheets allotted to them. It simply makes me want to hope that this day, and every day on this sheet of paper we call 2021, is a most wonderful day, full of meaning, purpose, fulfillment, and joy.
