Had a bear shoulder sauerbraten slow cooked in a cast iron dutch oven over an open fire years ago. Kind of like pork.

Yes. Stayed in Wears Valley, address was for Sevierville. Rode everywhere. A friend of mine was involved in the Bike Week at Maryville. Had a great time.

Do Florida bears hibernate in the 'winter'?

Florida black bears do not hibernate, but rather go into a semi-hibernation state known as torpor. In Florida they may do so only during extremely severe winter weather. Torpor tends to be more common in females who den when they are producing cubs. The female may stay in her den for a few months.Trapped in the People's Communist Republic of Massachusetts.
