Why do they make different size cigar?

They make different sizes because people like different sizes. The best selling cigars are in large ring gauges by far, probaly a macho thing, but most people who really get into the taste of cigars like smaller ring gauges since the wrapper of the cigar usually contributes a lot of the flavor compared to the filler tobaccos and you get a higher percentage of wrapper to filler in a smaller cigar.

Some people like Churchills, but they can be a long smoke and in winter when it's cold a corona cigar can be enjoyed before the elements get to you if you smoke outside. Lanceros are popular for their flavor, but being thinner are harder to roll without construction issues so some stay away because they feel they don't burn well. Lanceros don't sell well so not all cigars come in that vitola.

The blenders usually adjust the tobaccos to try and make the different vitolas (sizes) taste the same but that doesn't always work out. For a given cigar one size may have better flavor than the others so some may favor a corona for one cigar and a toro for another, etc.

The monster 8" x 80 ring cigars can be a chore to smoke, it's hard to hold that large a cigar in your mouth for a couple of hours and by the time you've smoked half of it you may be sick of it.

It's the different sizes of shredded wheat that keeps me up at night. It seems like you could only fit a few of the really large ones in a bowl.
