Well no shít Sherlock. It’s always been that way. Eat a raw egg you run the risk of salmonella. I guess the next huge breaking headline will be that raw chicken is bad for you. Crooked ass corporate food owners creating “shortages” to maintain higher prices. One week it’s a shortage of wings so they raise the price. Next week it’s thighs. Next time it’s breasts. More generally, organic food is going to have more diseases in it of course, since there's supposed to be no harsh chemicals killing all the potential diseases. That's why Chipotle keeps having outbreaks just as an example. I'd rather risk it, and eat food that hasn't been sprayed with a bunch of stuff I can't pronounce and don't know the long term consequences of. I don't believe that there are secret meetings taking place or anything like that, but If I was the CEO of Cargill, it would be pretty awesome if I could add to my holdings by buying farms at a discount after that farmer has to cull everything, because people are easily scared.
In general, I believe the government does not want to allow any farmer to sell any product bypassing it's rules, regulations, inspections, and approvals, especially dairy and meat products. In PA, this is playing out in court in the case of the Dept. of Agriculture versus Amos Miller, an Amish farmer who produces and sells raw milk and meats through a private cooperative, without undergoing DoAg inspections. His farm has been raided multiple times by the state, his products confiscated (even products not subject to inspection, nor part of the warrant justifying the raid), and he has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I believe the PA DoAg is using the Amos Miller situation to frighten and discourage other, smaller, producers in the state in order to gain their compliance. I believe the state wants full control over the food supply, and small, organic and raw farmers are a thorn in their foot that grates and irritates them.
If you search Amos Miller, you will find two people got sick from consuming unpasteurized egg nog purchased from him. Everyone who is part of the cooperative understands there is some small risk from raw milk, but when no one ever gets sick from any food that is produced in a regulated, inspected facility, or from eating food that has been approved by the DoAg, then maybe they will have some high ground to stand on. Until then, I believe they are just trying to intimidate small farms through over-reaching tactics coupled with punitive fines meant to put the subject out of business.
