Sure, or anything else you want to say. Go to the grocery store and find 4 random people. To the first, tell him/her that you had covid. Tell the second you had the China virus. The third should hear your story about the wuhan flu, and the fourth, the kung flu. Be sure to look them in the eye, of course.
Study their reactions and reflect on how you felt during your interactions, then let your conscience guide you.
Try it with all sorts of words like b>tch, the n word, and others. You'll figure out what people think is racist. Then ask yourself if others have a stake in determining what's racist (or bigoted, chauvinistic, prejudiced, ignorant, etc.) and what isn't.

And just for the viewers who didn't tune into the herf tonight, things are what they are based on popular opinion. That's why We apparently have ATM machines and PIN numbers, both of which repeat the last word in the acronyms. None of those came up in my spell check or grammar check by the way LOL.

FRANKY. I see my NON-PC term has stirred you. Glad you shared your thoughts on the term ChinaVirus. So, I am not a racist. The term is not racist but it certainly is divisive. Saying ChinaVirus is no more racist than saying MAGA but it definitely is equally as divisive. I am on the right, but, I know in any group of people there are those that are on the left. They should come here to the forum and not be PISSED OFF by my locker room political talk. I certainly wouldn't say ChinaVirus in public with mixed company (know your audience). So, it is not a racist word (in my opinion) but it is not appropriate considering people are offended by it.

So I can say dagó or kraut or limey because they're not racist, because Italian and German and English are not races. It's offensive though, so I can say it in my safe spaces? Got it. LOL! 😆

Well it stirred you enough to write several paragraphs about the word I used. Not sure what dago means. My German buddy doesn't mind "kraut". Doubt I'd call anyone a limey.
My tongue in cheek humor in a cigar forum that's read by mainly middle aged plus grown men differs greatly from how I would speak in person and with strangers.
I brought politics into this by saying ChinaVirus. You obviously were offended and found it racist. You mentioned proud boys and cat eaters and by that you made a political innuendo. Are you a racist Franky?
No, you aren't and we all know that. See how divisive 1 little word can be?

The fact that you wouldn't say the word in mixed company is evidence that you understand it is an offensive word. The defense rests.
The fact that you feel comfortable saying the word in company that you think is not mixed implies that you do have prejudice in your heart, which is fine and which I don't hold against you.

The things you find obvious are actually incorrect. I am not offended by the word whatsoever. I didn't even notice it, like I stated before. The reason I think the word is offensive to some people is because I know some people who think the word is offensive.
I don't know what you do for a living, but I will draw a conclusion that you are not a psychologist.

Totally fair point.
Edit: don't think so unless we are on different wavelengths. My example was to illustrate the difference between the two.
And I didn't miss the point of your other post by the way, I was just providing a similar example, which probably wasn't the greatest LOL. The point was to say that one person said something on TV and he has great influence and that influenced a bunch of other people, who might be reasonable otherwise in their lives, to believe this completely unbelievable thing. So on that extreme, we can consider something offensive if a bunch of people think it's offensive even if you don't think it's offensive or I don't think it's offensive and that is also completely reasonable.

And by the way ethnic slurs are no better than racist slurs or epitaphs. They are still offensive and derogatory. Slicing the cake one way or the other still gives you cake in the middle, even if it looks differently.

I didn't realize we were talking politics at all. I thought this was about coronavirus.
If you're coming to Vegas and you want to have a smoke then you can call me and I'll come meet you and we'll have a smoke.
If you want to use that whole time to talk about politics I'm probably not your guy. I don't vote and I haven't voted in the last three elections, and I've never voted in a midterm that I can remember.
If you want to talk about race relations and bigotry then that's fine. I have skin in that game. I'll tell you about the time that my mother called My daughter the n-word Aunt about all the little suburban housewives with crosses around their necks who call me an n-word lover.

So, if enough people say 2 + 2 = 5, it will be true?
I know, You're a big dog and I'm on the list.

It'll be fine once the swelling goes down.
Perhaps the "Fauci/CCP Virus" would be acceptable?
Well, you have the proud boys patrolling the streets of Springfield in search of cat eaters.
You think you stirred me bro? Lol I was the one defending you by saying you shouldn't have gotten the flag on your post. But okay. 😂
I love this part of your post....
Lol let's not get too full of ourselves here, Little buddy. As you recall, I didn't even notice the word in your post 🤔. That doesn't seem like the trigger you think it is 😂.
Just so you know, our moderator is a woman and our age range varies from late twenties to at least late '70s, if not more. Careful on who you think you're not offending in the future, just FYI.
Don't make it a habit of agreeing with me so completely and absolutely. It's not good for your forum reputation.
I'm surprised you missed the point of my post so completely.
I know, You're a big dog and I'm on the list.

Your confusing ethnic slurs and racism

Oh, you noticed it. And you voiced your opinion. I respect your opinion although I DO NOT believe ChinaVirus is racist. It is divisive and very partisan and OBVIOUSLY triggered you which is evident even if you won't admit it. I come here to chat about cigars and you have contributed greatly to this forum. We will begin to turn people off soon if we fuss over political topics so I'll end this and we can continue chatting about cigar related stuff.
If you're not Trump you don't just get to lie and call it the truth and have everyone believe it.
As Joe pesci once said in my cousin Vinny, I'm done with this guy.
@LittleBuddy50... Vherf some evening?
Yes, pretty please
Those who join and stick around get it. 26 posts in and I have my doubts.
what might that be....
Vherf is what we call our little Ccom forum Zoom thing. There are a bunch of us morons that get on and smoke most evenings, starting around 8pm Eastern.
Find @yakster's signature line for password and meeting number.
You can check the following thread to find out when the first attendee opens the Zoom channel. This is normally around 8:15 PM Eastern on weekdays.

More Politics??
Franky I'm heading up to the SEMA show in NOV. Does this mean we aren't Golfing?
Hugs
Apparently some here think any talk about current affairs is political.
I sympathize with your situation at the hands of heartless hypocrites though. You aren't the only one with a mixed familial situation.
