But really. We we sort of hold this whole thing sacrosanct but why? Ohio State runs a giant research hospital, that takes insurance, and has real doctors along with the students. Iowa has a children's hospital. I think ucla does also.
Other institutions also have their niches. Hell, even the culinary program at my local community college runs a restaurant Open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights. Why should this be any different?
