My son, who doesn't smoke cigars, or anything, recently returned from a trip to Central America, excited to give me a Christmas present which he spent WAY too much money for.
Obviously well intentioned, but sadly mistaken. I asked him why he didn't call or text me prior to purchase, but, no signal. He'd gone to a larger store in Belize, supposedly reputable.
Everything certainly looked official

so, dissection was in order
couldn't get a band off without cutting it, too much glue
The final test, taste reminded me of a gas station White Owl Ranger from 1978 or so.
Sad. I told him that I really appreciated the effort. He said: "Lesson learned".

Might have been filled with counterfeit cigars, but lots of love as well. Keep the "Humidor" and fill it with photos and such.

Yeah, he meant well. I wanted to post it all up in photos to show the lengths that are taken in this scam. Tax stamp looks real, hologrammed sticker on the side of the box, all the labels in the top row are very carefully lined up, wood burned etchings of Hecho a Mano and Habana, etc.
So, if anyone's family is taking a trip to Central America, show them what not to buy. Even if it's in a supposedly large retailer / reputable shop. Bahstids!

Ya i saw this post. No evidence in mine except the hole. Froze the other cigar for good measure. As best as I could I authenticated. Everything checked out but I am not expert
