Ignorance is bliss?

ForMudForMud Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm going to try it.....I done watching and listening to the news. Except the traffic report, I need those....Oh and the weather too. Not into sports so that's an easy one.
Asking myself, is it worth getting all worked up over something I can't control?
Also will I be happier not knowing all the dumb #hit going on?
I think I will be.
Started this morning....No traffic to avoid and rain tomorrow....All else, I don't know and don't care.

I haven’t watched mainstream news media in the past two years and four months

A good cigar and whiskey solve most problems.

The last time I watched TV was the debate between Trump and knee pads.

Trapped in the People's Communist Republic of Massachusetts.

That was my toned down PG-13 version. I didn't even mention Musk's Wrinkly Crinkly Pinky Stinky.....

I read Time Magazine for forty years as my parents subscribed when I was young and watched the network news fairly regularly. Gave them both up prior to Trumps first election. Just couldn't take the slants anymore. I like to think I am not really missing anything...

Maybe that some of the point right there. You stopped listening and reading those outlets because they didn't align with your political choice. Am I reading that correctly?

I think in the past I was able to pull say >50% objective useful information from them. The quantity has dropped so low it isn’t worth my time. I would really like to find a media that gives a balanced delivery. Don’t know if that exists anywhere anymore. I listen to Bloomberg Business now if anything.

The closest I’ve found is 1440. It’s a daily newsletter sent through email.

I would probably stop watching the news too if I had ever thought the dude who bankrupted not one but two casinos would be good at running a country...

My two favorite news sources. The first one is unbiased and presents mostly facts. The second one shows you which political sides are reporting on it and highlights blind spots for both parties.

I have no problems, just more work to do.

Been thinking about this. It's not making me angry It's making me disappointed in people and myself.
I never thought I would see so much pettiness, spite, greed and hate being celebrated by people.
I know it's always been there, but it's getting worse by the minute.
It's not who I am and it's not who I want to be...But watching this garbage every day is starting to turn me that way.
We can't even blame ignorance anymore with all this knowledge at were fingertips. I truly believe 99% of us can't handle it and it will be our undoing.

Dam that's some heavy **** for a rainy Fri morning.....

That's what I was brought up to believe in.

I think the up and down of the tariffs causing the market to go up and down is just a milking machine to milk money out of the country and into the pockets of big political donors. Part of the fleecing of America.

There is no news anymore, we have a state run network pumping Fear, Outrage and Xenophobia 24/7 and all the others are Trump tv basically, reporting everything he does with a tiny violin playing in the background. .It’s hard to find anything that is actual news.

It will continue like this until people realize the illusion of choice in the coin flip vote is just that, an illusion. Every day people will always have way more in common than they have in difference but the puppet masters on either side of the coin know what to say come voting time to get the flocks in line and both end up like crabs in a pot. Stockholm syndrome nation I tell ya. Same coin flip and nothing ever changes as we keep choosing the same two masters and expecting different results. Insanity.
