Weird nicsick

in Cigar 101
I used all kinds of tobacco for a long time. 2014 I quit cigarettes and cigars and 2019 I quit vaping and nicotine entirety. Recently started having a cigar occasionally and sometimes I will finish a cigar and be fine. Not even buzzing too hard, but then 15-20 minutes later I start getting sweating, buzzing and tummy flipping that lays me flat for half an hour or more. It's difficult to predict and kind of confusing.

It will have a lot to do with what cigars you are smoking. There are huge differences in the nicotine content in different tobaccos. The vitola can play a big part as well.
Hello @Thirdeye523.
It isn't entirely obvious that you know what you're doing, so forgive me for asking, do you inhale properly? It's important.
@Bob_Luken I don't inhale. Fill my mouth with smoke, "chew" it, blow it out. I even spit fairly often. It's the delay that confuses me. I put the cigar down, go upstairs, start watching TV and then 15-20 minutes after setting the cigar down I'm in misery.
Nic is absorbed by the oral mucosa too. Perhaps takes longer to build up in the blood stream.
I'm aware that the LFD Double Ligero that I used to love are probably far beyond me but this La Gloria Cubana R shouldn't have put me on my ass like this.
Do you eat before you smoke? A sugary soda can help prevent this or in the recovery.
I do. Every time. I used to smoke cigars a lot so i am familiar with them. I just quit nicotine entirely to get off of cigarettes years ago and have recently picked up a cigar or two a week. It's not every time, either. Just twice recently. I didn't think of a spoonful of sugar last time, that probably would have made my recovery quicker.
Do you smoke 1/2 a cigar, or 2/3? Only time I ever get the Nicotine blues is after I am already past 3/4 of the way, so I'm wondering if the damage is already done in your case and the delay is because it takes some time to happen.
Remember which cigars are the ones that bother you and next time you smoke those try to eat some carbs beforehand and see if you do better. If your stomach is digesting food, especially carbs. The sugars created in your system, or the sugars ingested directly, will diminish the effects of nicotine and in most cases, prevent you from overdoing it.
Candy, sugar and don-diet soft drinks are cures for after the fact.
Also, are you on any medications or supplements that you were not taking in years past? I'm not sure how exactly how those things would affect your reaction to nicotine, but it would be something to look into.
Yeah, see, the finish tastes best so not only do I tend to nub a cigar but I am tempted to puff it more often when it gets down there. They just used to warn me when I was getting close to too much and now I don't seem to get that warning and in fact am fine for another 20 minutes after I put it down so it's difficult to even know when to put it down.
The serie r was always known for being a pretty Nic heavy cigar. A lot of the newer blends have passed it by in that regard, but for someone that has laid off of smoking a few years it could definitely hit fairly hard.
Do you tend to smoke fast? Has anyone ever mentioned that you finish off a cigar quickly? I’m not even sure if it would matter but it could be something contributing to the delayed response.
Try the cotton candy vape
My favorite cigar list here
No, if anything I smoke too slowly. I'm being careful because I'm aware of the possibility. It may be the last couple puffs before I set it down. Before when I smoked if I was going to get "got" I'd get a feeling before that and set it down. Now it's 20 minutes after I set it down.
Like most things in life, I'm guessing this too, shall pass. I wouldn't like it if this were happening to me, but give it some time, and I believe you'll be fine.
Somebody really ought to say thank you at some point.
Are you holding off until somebody definitively solves your dilemma for you?
To be fair, you never actually asked a question. Did you?
You just lay your troubles out there and we can't help but worry about you.
We are suckers again. DZR?
I think maybe I'm just getting careless puffing it too much just before I put it down. It's the weirdly long delay that I didn't used to experience having previously been a 2 or 3 a day cigar smoker that I was hoping for some insight on. Thanks anyway, though.
Definitely weird situation. Now you have to get to the bottom of this. I must know. 😂
A good cigar and the open road solve most problems.
