You said "I knew they were talking about illegals, and they knew they were talking about illegals. I replied without making any distinction because I figured everybody know it's about the illegals." How did you "know" and please, please be specific.

Or are you just saying that like minded people that think and feel the same way you do thought it was targeting "illegals"?

Shouldn't illegals be the only ones targeted?

You have posted videos of guys you know who move extremely large loads down the highways with extremely large equipment. Right?

They’re talking about moving the space shuttle from Washington to Texas for $85 million.

Apparently $5M is for the actual moving (that's an awful lot of 30 packs!) and $80M for a building and exhibit space, which needs to be built. Still, a lot of money.

Wasteful government spending has been going on for a long time, under all administrations (it's a congress problem).

Ahh, I wasn't even thinking about that. I know a guy that works at the company that makes the trailers. That's as close as I can get.

Wait a minute... isn't this the home of the free and the land of the brave? It takes a lot of knowledge to get that look and still have it be tractable on the freeway. Don't be so judgy.

People shouldn't keep living in flood prone areas. Think New Orleans and katrina.

That occurrence is not uncommon in that part of Texas. Search around online and you'll find videos of the Uvalde River rising as much as 20 feet in 2 minutes. I think it was '88 when we moved back to TX for a couple years, the Guadalupe River had a flash flood and killed a bunch of campers that year. Nothing new, just tragic. There's signs at common river sites saying things like "If you notice any change in the water, GET OUT." You generally have about 2 minutes.

I think there could be improvements to flood warning systems. The weather authorities track heavy rainfall in upstream basins, and they issue watches and warnings, so I think they should have dedicated flood warning sirens similar to tornado sirens, especially in areas where larger groups of people gather at the rivers, public access areas, canoe outfitters, summer camps.

They do this in the deep canyon areas at least two popular TN state park areas that I know of. At Rock Island SP there's a dam just upstream from some trails and if they plan to release more water, they will use a siren to get people to evacuate the trails in the low areas. And at Cummins Falls SP people hike down into the deep valley to reach the falls and there is an orientation meeting that hikers are required to attend. They let us know that "in the event of rising waters due to heavy rains upstream, there will be a siren", and they even have an area where you can grab lifejackets and climb straight up the bluff using ropes that are permanently placed.

River areas are low with often high surrounding terrain that cause bad radio and cell coverage, so I figure adding dedicated sirens for larger groups of people during severe flood warnings would more likely wake people up and give them a better chance to escape before it is too late.
