I was checking the Safeway ads this morning, only grocery besides Walmart within 15 miles, checking egg prices and a new AI help was introduced so since I couldnt bypass it I typed in eggs and got an ad for Hershey's chocolate. I can see why AI is depressed.

Safeway around $5/dozen
Walmart $2.72/dozen
Just for the heck of it , around here (N.W. Pa) they run 3 to 4 dollars a dozen of folks. Not sure what store prices are. We charge $4 a dozen for no corn/no soy ,legit free range. Not going to make much but keeps us in eggs and our son busy feeding and collecting (he gets to keep the money. so he is happy).
California $7-$8/dozen at the grocery stores.
Local farmers xl dozen $10.87
A good cigar and the open road solve most problems.
I usually give away about as many as we use.
My FIL used to scramble up the extra and feed them back to the chickens......Said it was recycling.

Prices for eggs have come down from there peak, here's some pricing from a local Safeway and Smart & Final.

Same here, between 3 and 4 dollars per dozen from local farmers or backyard chicken raisers.
And I came here thinking @OutdoorsSmoke_21191 started posting AI gals...... what a let down!
Had to drive the extra 5 miles for the $2.72 eggs, can't make the German pancakes without them.
My uncle in OK had a buddy across the street pass away so my uncle bought his place to settle the estate, inherited 13 laying hens, can't even give the eggs away fast enough to keep up.
Hint: when you eat the hens, they're not laying eggs anymore.
I once had 15 hens laying, averaged about 22 eggs per day. TOO MUCH!! They're murderous creatures, though. By year's end we were down to 11 or 12 hens. Little cannibals, eat their young (eggs), and each other too, given half a chance. Fed them twice a day, but, they had evil in their hearts.
The rooster was funny, though. About every 2 - 4 weeks he got the notion in his head that he could take me. Silly bahstid didn't seem to have a long term memory. Knocked him clean out a time or two, he'd behave for a couple weeks, then I'd see him eyeballing me from across the yard. Turn my back and wait to hear him running up from behind, turn and whack him with my walking stick. Or, whacking stick, if you prefer.

I know pigeons are AI.... but when did this happen to chickens?
They saw an opportunity when the price of eggs skyrocketed and folks started getting laying hens.
What does an AI egg taste like, anyway?
Nothing. They taste like nothing.
I guess they'd be a perfect addition to a nothingburger. A nothingburger with an AI egg on top.
