Once in a lifetime Estate Sale. Lady walked in to the shop during pipe club. The prices she asked were incredibly low. Cue immediate skepticism. She said she had done some research on pipe values, but said she “just wanted them gone”. We pressed for information about the collection. Whose was it, relationship, how she came to possess it, etc etc. We finally found out it was her father’s collection and after talking with her, we gathered it wasn’t a good relationship and estranged for many years. Thus the unbelievable low prices. Very nice collection and several great pieces went to many club members.
Still sad about the relationship. Gave me plenty of pause to think about how I would want my children or wife to handle my collection and what I could do to help them navigate the process. Food for thought. Fortunately, I’m blessed to have incredible relationships with my grownup kids.
Still bothers me and kind of takes away from the smoking pleasure while partaking. Not guilt, rather the sense of a lost relationship between a daughter and her father, missed opportunity to repair prior to death and not having fond memories of her father enjoying his passion for smoking pipes.
Honestly, don’t know what got into me this morning.

I'm sure the old man would be happy someone is enjoying his pipes instead of ending up snapped in half in the trash.
Part of what interests me about used pipes (and guitars) is imaging about the people who used them before me.
This. Thanks for the suggestion @Yakster.
Pretty cool out of the box. Wiped it with alcohol and it was already set up ok. I think I am going to do a complete tear down and file all of the edges. Already cut myself and not with the blade. Also, the feet need modification. Suction cups will not do.

Steve lmk if you like the frog chalet. I have a few tins I will never smoke. FYI he’s a good blender. Aro’s are just not my thing.
I've tried the Chalet now. It was not quite what I expected. It's not bad, a lot of Cavendish in it. I do smoke a little Cavendish from time to time, usually mix a little in with something if I'm desiring it.
All that said, what I've go will do me for a long time. Perhaps there's someone who's just getting into pipes who could use a couple tins? It's a good smoke.

Those slices look pretty good.
Thanks, giving them some dry time before loading. They were cut on whatever the guard is set at from factory.

Maybe you could swing by San Jose on the way.
Are you going to San Clemente Island? Been there, done that.
Maybe I could. It's a work trip to trade vehicles with the station. I have what they need and vice versa.

Just got a “peach” from my local this morning. All they had was Aeros but figured I’d give it a try. Not too shabby
