DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide) can melt certain plastics.
DEET can ruin certain plastics, synthetic fabrics like rayon and spandex, leather, painted surfaces, and waterproof coatings by dissolving or softening them. Common items that can be damaged include plastic glasses, watch crystals, synthetic clothing, car finishes, tents, and certain gear. To prevent damage, avoid spraying DEET directly on these items and wash off any overspray or mist immediately.DEET is a solvent that can dissolve some materials, including plastics. When DEET comes into contact with certain plastics, it can dissolve the plastic molecules, causing it to melt or become sticky.
Plastics that are particularly susceptible to melting from DEET include: polycarbonate, acrylic, nylon, vinyl, and rubber.
Therefore, it is important to avoid applying DEET to any plastic surfaces, such as eyeglasses, watch bands, or tent materials4 -

Nice. I had to look up clerical tippet. The only tippet I knew of was used for fishing.
If it don’t bother me, it don’t bother me. Just leave me alone.

Didn't know where else to put this...
Dodgers’ starter Blake Snell single-handedly makes more than 1.5 times the salary of the Brewers’ ENTIRE pitching staff 💰
Just throwing that out there…

Down here we'd say, "he makes more 'n half again as much as all of them put together".

Culex antillummagnorum, a little-studied mosquito species found across the Caribbean, doesn't lay its eggs in a tightly packed group like fellow Culex species. Instead, as a new study details, female Cx. antillummagnorum hover or perch above small pools of water in plants and drop in their eggs one at a time.

I don't like that so many presidents start construction on the white house (on our dime) just to suit themselves. It should not be allowed unless its actually necessary. And on their own dime.

In his Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, John Koenig offers a collection of new words, each invented to give a name to complicated feelings we previously lacked a word for. His book includes words like dés vu, “the awareness that this moment will become a memory,” and onism, “the frustration of being stuck in just one body, that inhabits only one place at one time.” Koenig says his mission is to shed light on all of the unique and strange experiences of being human, so that people can feel less alone in those experiences.
