Had mine delivered to work, mine got signed for by someone who doesn't work for us, 10 minutes before the post van stopped at our mailbox. Fml

That sucks but isn't surprising. I used to have a mailman that would make packages as owner refused or delivered but wouldn't show up to the house those days.
Gave me a lot of opportunities to work on my patience and understanding
I don't have problems, just more work to do.

Got these in a trade for an unequal measure of pipe tobacco. As in the pipe tobacco didn't come close to equaling, what looks to be, 9 quality cigars.

I made my first BIG order on thursday. I got a couple Opus X, some Preferido Emeralds, CAO Golds, a couple boxes of stuff by Oliva including the new Cain Habanos, oh and I got a couple 5 Vegas CS II that I have been wanting to try for a while. I got a few other things but I can't remember them. I am super excited to get this order!!All sound great but that Opus X is something special for sure. I just recently found at my local cigar shop the new Opus X 25th anniversary edition, all in their own custom made coffins with a gorgeous humidor. About $240/stick. The great thing I love about the Opus X is the fillers are the same blends used in the Rare Pink, and the wrapper is a Cuban seed. Very special cigar, I hope you enjoy every second of it
2 -
Wrapper is Cuban seed you say? Is that rare, or something?
"I could've had a Mi Querida!" Nick Bardis7 -
Cuban seed you say? But not grown in Cuba you say? So not grown in Cuba’s climate or soil you say? So it’s basically like every other Fuente Opus? Over priced and under delivering? And yes. I’ve smoked enough Opus in my life to know I need not purchase any more.
2 -
No, nothing to do with the soil or climate, it’s the strain of tobacco and the genetics of that Cuban seed and the origin where the tobacco came from. There are many different types of tobacco plants but Cuba has kept their tradition of plant cultivation, which is why their plants are known for the robust and distinct flavors and aroma. It’s the Cuban seed that is grown in Dominican Republic that blends the 2 factors to make such an exquisite wrapper leaf. You might think that just because it’s Cuban seed but it’s grown in Dominican Republic that it doesn’t make a difference, but it makes a huge difference or Arturo Fuente wouldn’t buy the seeds from Cuba. When it comes to the agricultural side of it, having that Cuban seed took longer than any of us were alive to create. So it’s the genetics and strain of that Cuban seed that makes for its reputation. Not to mention the years AF spent creating that cigar. It’s art.

Maybe…. but not enough to supply any manufacturer and no where’s enough to supply Fuente, one of the largest manufacturers in the world. Most “Cuban Seed” is hybrid or heirloom removed from Cuba decades ago. Climate and soil plays a gigantic part in imparting flavors into the tobacco, some say more than the seed itself. I’m not sure you’ve smoked enough Cubans my friend. Cuban cigars are far from the days of the cigar boom. Most needing years of aging and rest as aging and quality control are some of the worst in the industry. I didn’t just fall off the turnip wagon my friend. I frequent the Caribbean and smoke enough Cuban cigars to have an informed opinion on them. New World cigars are superior in every fashion. And BTW…. Fuente sucks.

Ok so again, the Opus X wrapper flavor is not based on the flavor of most Cubans. Cubans taste the way they do because of the rich soil, but the seed itself is a seed produced from the plants that are grown and used for Cuban cigars. It’s about the genetics, not the conditions. What makes the wrapper of the opus special is the blending of the 2 factors. 1. It is a genetically identical cultivar of the ones grown in Cuba. Which means a different type of tobacco. It has genetically adapted to its environment, which is Cuba. It comes from a line of the same identical plant that is produced every time. They don’t modify the plant or use other seeds other than their own (most of them). 2. The Cuban decent seed is grown in the Dominican Republic environment, soil, and climate which gives that particular Cuban seed plant a twist with its flavors. It’s not going to taste like a Cuban because it wasn’t grown in the Cuban soil, but it will have the genetics, structure, and unique base flavor profile that Cuban leaves have. But that’s not all that is special about the opus X or the 25th anniversary edition. The process it takes to make those Cigars is insane. The growing, the fermenting, the curing, then the aging. It’s the process in which they do all of it together that makes the cigar exquisite.
I don’t even know why I’m wasting my breath, I just like talking about Cigars I guess. lol
But you’re right @Vision, Cuban cigar companies have the worst quality control out of all the cigar brands. They say 4/10 cigars are terrible quality, either rolled too tight or shaped oddly. I 100% agree. Why spend all that money when you know that almost half of them are worthless. I too have smoked many brands of Cubans, and I must say that I have had some amazing ones, and some I will never bother with again. And thank you for the recommendation, I never tried New World cigars before, so now after hearing all of your truth and opinions, I have to try these New Worlds to see what you’re talking about! I really appreciate your feedback.2 -
New World refers to all of the cigars not made in Cuba.

I’d still like to know which Opus we are referring to.
