“Not long ago I was a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher, with one of America’s most prominent atheists. Wearing my clerical collar, I realized that I stood out among his guests. So I decided to announce to Bill that I, too, am an atheist. He seemed taken aback, so I explained that if we were talking about the God who hates poor people, immigrants, and gay folks, I don’t believe in that God either. Sometimes it helps to clarify our language.”

    — William J. Barber II

Fear makes man unwise in the three great departments of human conduct: his dealings with nature, his dealings with other men, and his dealings with himself.
Fear is a reaction which we share with the animals. It is crude and slapdash. Sometimes it serves the purposes of self-preservation, but sometimes it does quite the opposite.“

Like the use of the word "slapdash" in it as well.

Heard an interesting quote while watching a docudrama about Alexander the other night. One of the Persian generals, I think, was quoted as saying:

"I have no fear of facing an army of lions led by a sheep. What I fear is an army of sheep led by a lion".

    Seems relevant.
