There’s really no upside to ornate bands because they have to be covered.

I wonder what the manufacturers think of that. I hear some bands are relatively very expensive. Probably saves them a nice chunk of change overall but now all cigars look the same so nothing to catch the eye.

Yeah it’s a catch 22 of sorts. They save money on the less ornate bands, but there is nothing in particular to make one stand out from the other. Those that do still use an ornate band have to have it completely covered and made to look like those above. Funny thing is, there have been a couple companies make specialized bands that are for Canadian exclusive cigars only for them to be covered up.
