Sweet Spot

Picked up 7 boxes of bees in-between two of the worse storms on the same night. Not in great shape. Working hard to get 4 built p to pretty good, 2 so-so , and one that most of Vegas would bet against. The most splits that I did out of a hive was 8. If anyone wants to guess how many hives I have going into winter, say Oct 1, a forum fiver to the one that gets the correct number. Will be buying queens to make splits this year, but wont **** any hives if I get any (never do this late anyway).

OK wasn't sure if there would be any interest in this, but I need motivation, lol. It's always fun to see what you can do when dealing with nature and animals.

LOL, going to give it a shot. Lucky to know some pretty good beekeepers to get ideas from.

I'm only scared of them when they come near me.

They are not out for blood, like mosquitoes.

Ever want, since you are not that far, come on over. Throw a suit or jacket on you and you can stand back or go right in a hive if you get comfortable. After the initial what the heck am I doing here , they really are amazing when you hear what they are doing.

I used to enjoy sitting in front of my grandmother's hives in Oceanside, watching them fly away in straight lines.

Thanks for the invite, Ed. The only ones that dont scare me are the big furry ones that dont bite.

They only scared me because I was highly allergic many years ago.. But the other week I got way freak out because a swarm of bee's had engulfed my friend and I..It was a giant swarm that had no interest in us but was chasing a tractor trailer for some reason.

Tractor trailer probably had @edz honey queens onboard

Man did I feel the wheels of the bus that ran over me, Thanks Randy. Swarms don't bother anyone. Look a bit intimidating at first, but probably the safest place to be around bees.

What scared/threw us off was that we where at a rest area off of rt76 outside Philly taking our lunch break. For us to be stander there BSing one moment and the next engulfed in a giant swarm moving threw the rest area randomly. That was really weird feeling and scary.
