hey guys and gals

My first post here but have been into cigars for 25 years or more.  Looking forward to enjoying the forum.

I recently bought 2 old humidors from an antique store. Not sure of the type of wood but quality seems great.  One has a porcelin insert in the top and bottom and the other is fully lined in tin. 

Anyone know the purpose behind the tin and porcelin linings?  Should I use them as is or line them with spanish cedar??  They both seal very good and are keeping very constant RH.

    If they keep a good Rh then I wouldn't worry... If you want to throw some cedar in there it would mainly be for the smell of the humi, but Cedar is mainly used for it's ability to maintain Rh the best so if your humidor takes care of that, then no worries!

    I agree, I have a vintage humi lined in copper and plan on putting my sticks in there in cedar trays.

    FYI in the olden days that’s how they were made. Aging cigars is a relatively new concept. That’s how cedar lining came about.
