Heading out to see my son graduate Medical School this week. It's a big day, for him, and us. He was slated to start earlier, but got delayed by his deployment to Afghanistan a few years ago, and had a lot to overcome, like convincing the school to still accept him after the loss of his hand, closed head injury, broken back, etc., followed by a tough row to hoe dealing with those (and other) losses and maybe a touch of PTSD., but he's done it.

Now for residency. He originally wanted to be a trauma surgeon, loss of the right hand made that more than merely difficult. He was hoping for an ER residency, but a major computer glitch on "match day" and the slots were all filled, but he begins in Internal Medicine, and hopes to match into an ER program next year. Wish us luck, guys, and thanks to all of you for the support you've given me through your friendship these last few years.

You must be VERY proud Amos. He sounds like a fine young man. With his smarts and talent he should do very well. With the amount of tenacity he has shown... nobody better get in his way either. Good on him.
