That's always the sign that we are headed toward Spring! Just wish I was in Arizona soaking up those rays...

When I was a young and impressionability was a good thing, my father worked at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Wash DC. It was, at that time a majestic place, and celebrities were common, and always nice to a youngster like me.

Little did I know that my father was on a first name basis with most of the old Washington Senators baseball team. We were actually having lunch with a few of them when it hit me and I remained in awe of my father for a very long time.

Of course we went to a lot of games at the old stadium and visits to the dug out were not out of the question.

When the team left DC everything changed, and not for the best. My father was heart broken because he really loved the game and the "team".

It seemed every few months from that point brought more news about how big money and big names were forever changing the game. And over the years drugs, gambling and scandals left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I completely lost interest and my father would not even talk about baseball. I am happy for people who, today, can get so wrapped up in it, but it just ain't the same.

Dodgers gonna do it this year!!!

Can not wait first year with season tickets to watch the Cubs lose.

What the WHAAAT?!? Some crummy 16 game diversion? SINGLE game playoffs? ONE quaterback that plays EVERY game? Football is the checkers to baseball's chess on every level. The Big Mac to baseball's Porterhouse! I like checkers and big mac's, especially in the winter when there's nothing else to do, but I can't wait until spring.

Not at Seattle. They don't even have a smoking area anymore.
An open ballpark and none of that is allowed anymore.
It's a shame, because if there is one tradition that goes hand in hand, it is cigars and baseball.
