    Utilized LORAN C in the past but strictly as a timing reference for networks, strictly a landlubber here, though I did consider applying to Cal Maritime (not enough electronics in it) and I do have a small sailboat and three kayaks making up my fleet of vessels.

    Nowadays GPS receivers are easier to use for timing.

    I was also lucky enough in High School to have a sailing club to be part of, learned dead reckoning charting courses from Dana Point to the Channel Islands, though I never got learned in the use of a sextant.
