Re: NY passes 1st US gun control bill since massacre
Amos Umwhat:I think you've categorized JDH far too narrowly, and I doubt he was unaware of what you're speaking of, and I have no doubt that he's fired many weapons. The guy's from Texas! He lives in The South. C'mon. That said, I have to disagree with JDH myself in one area. I believe that there are quite a few powerful… -
Re: Palin
I'd like to point out the the media at large provides plenty of ammo for both sides of this arguement. Someone thinks the so-called leftist media gives "liberals" a pass? I guess that's why we've never heard about the antics of Blagojevich, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton's memory gaffe (Bosnian landing, no bullets), Chelsea… -
Re: Aging
I had to go back to the original post, and re-read, and read, and read, and read again. This post will only include non-Cuban cigars, as this seems to be what we are talking about. Here are my thoughts, and actual aging trials I have done. I have probably 40 plus boxes right now that are atleast 3 years old. At one time I… -
Re: Tobacco storage and rest
My cellar is roughly 60 in the winter and 70 in the summer. This seems to be a sustainable range since I have had no issues. I jar everything immediately. Even vacuum sealed tins get popped and transferred simply because my OCD demands continuity of storage. I like about 4 ounces of jar capacity for 1 ounce of tobacco or… -
Q and A
I got an email from someone with some storage and cigar related questions which are questions we get frequently. I thought I would post the dialog here as a resource for others who have similar questions. Alex: I have a couple of cigar questions and was hoping you could provide me with your thoughts. I have a large Daniel… -
Re: Just landed on the beach
xmacro: Obviously none of you have ever seen the Gospel of John (Moses Browning): 1) In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons,… -
Re: The Best Cutters I can find. (XiKar Xi2 01/28/11)
It all starts with the perfect cap. Which can fail miserably if cut incorrectly. It can cause draw issues which can affect flavor, draw, burn rate, and your burn line not to mention pieces of tobacco that show up between your teeth when it all falls apart. All this done incorrectly can have the best cigars spiral out of… -

Re: Contest: For my mom
I'm 48 years old and I still haven't come to terms with my relationship with my mom. Indeed, I don't even know how to characterize it. She is just sort of there. I love her, to be sure, but she has neither a positive nor negative impact on me. She is just there. My grandma, on the other hand, who actually raised me as an… -
Re: Tabletop Games
Don't get me started... Catan Seafarers and the Cities and Knights expansion are great. Our favorites right now are Isle of Skye and Dominion. Both of these are a little intimidating until you actually play them. The Dominion rule book is THICK, and the mechanics don't really make sense. My son bought it with Christmas…
