i rest EVERYTHING for about 6 weeks. i have had too many bad experiences with cigars newer than that for it to be a coincidence.

i got to the point quickly where my humidors are full. so when i want to put a cigar or two in there i will only buy cigars that i want to try or that i know are good. Ive stopped looking for that "everyday" cigar because i know that i dont smoke everyday. every cigar i have is a special occasion. every cigar that i own should live up to that occasion.

since i did a ton of trades, games, PIF's, etc. i have many singles. i have very few doubles, and even fewer multiples.

all this tells me is that i need to smoke more often.

... that IS my new years resolution.

I learned well from this man. Rest everything - if you are disappointed with a cigar after 6 weeks of rest, then you know it wasn't "Freezing to death in the mail truck" or your local B&M not humidifing things correctly.

And I also want to smoke a lot more. It bothers me that I'm only smoking one a week. I hate winter...

I would definitley age the RP Olde Worlde Reserve, if you have the patience. I bought 30 RP OWR 2nds (maduros) and they have been aging nicely. I split my order 15 to age, and 15 to smoke.

    "Long ashes my friends."

  • I smoke so infrequently anymore that everything in my humi (excluding christmas presents) has at least 6 months of age on them. I, like Kuzi want to smoke more cigars this year.

Every cigar I smoke is a special occasion. Thank God I have 3-5 special occasions a day!

I seem to 'age' cigars by accident. I have and keep far more than I can smoke, and really enjoy a stick that has sat in the humi for 6 months or more. The sticks I like the least age longer, as I will smoke them less often. Even those get better and better and then their gone. By that time, something else has some aging on it.

This summer I will be smoking cigars that were purchased last spring, and I hope to be able to keep that rotation of 1 year old cigars. Having said that, I have smoked all of the Perdomo sample pack I got last fall, as well as some other sticks that I wanted to try.

In short, I have no system, but the lack of a system works for me.

I have so many sticks that I age even when I don't want to. However with that being said a lot of what I bought were 5 packs and 10 packs so that I could have 1 and age the rest to see how they develop. Cigars like GoF, Hemingway Between the Lines, all Anejos, and stronger cigars like OpusX, Don Carlos 30th anniv, 5 Vegas Limitada 2008 and 2009 plus others like CS II and Padilla Obsidian get aged on purpose. The Opus and the 5 Vegas are too strong for me out of the box so I want to invest some real time with them and see how they develop. I'm hoping that they develop into something I enjoy.

I still have 90% of my first ccom purchase from last august.
I kinda kept buying to the point were I have so many they'll age all by themselves.

When I buy, I always get multiples and split off some for aging. Singles I just decide on a case by case basis. Some manufacturers I just rest for 6 months no matter what, others for 6 weeks, and others I know are good fresh.

Same here for smoking more this year...after about a year of trying to find that every day smoke and buying boxes of what I "like" I find myself in a very similar situation---lots of stiks with six months of age or more and looking forward for some of these to come upon the one year mark and seeing what has changed or better yet gotten better with the aging, My goal now is to focus more on maintaining my humidors and smoking as often as possible, knowing that my inventory has most of what I like and definitely has the age on them...

There's something wrong with that humi..... I can see the bottom!

I usually put a few of a recent purchase in my main humi, the rest go into the coolerdor. Then when I'm rotating stuff later I usually get a nice surprise when I find something I forgot I had.

you can see the bottom because I am holding the rest in my hand!!!!!!!!!! I am interested in this coolidor.... have to do some reading on this. Thanks Yeah these Rocky Patels need some rest, had a Sun Grown ...... WOW what a STick needs some rest!

I had my first old world reserve just a few days ago, and it was good. I expect it to be even better after a few months or more. I had no problem with the RP Sungrown and the ones I have left now have 4 or 5 months on them. They can still be spicy on the nose, but so far they've had one of the best burns of anything I smoke, new or well rested.

I'm totally not tyring to de-rail this, but since it was brought up, I have to ask. Ozzie (and anyone else of course), in a casino, I've heard that the air quality is really bad and is not recommended that people with asthma (that's me) stay in them for very long. But I'm a gambling man, and I get jonesin for some poker and would one day like to hit up some casinos, but I want to get an idea of what I might need to prepare myself for. So, how did you feel the air qaulity was?

Most times, the casinos that I go to are smoke free. The ones that do allow smoking have had great ventilation. Best practice is to give the casino a call. Ask if they allow smoking, if there is a 'smoking section' and if the ventilation is good enough that a non-smoker would enjoy their time at that casino. Most establishments want your business, but will be honest if you say you have any condition that might not let you stay long. They'd rather loose you as a customer than gain you as a plaintif. IMHO.

LOL oh this Casino is a Smoking Casino its a Native American Casino In Northern California! they have non smoking areas. It was New Years EVE and the Whole place looked like WOODSTOCK with no ventialtion and its never been that bad! LOL I yielded to the women she was Winning I was Not ..... I was just enjoying a good Smoke ! Should have bought a couple boxes of cigars rather than lose 100 bucks!

You know, you don't hear the "original metal" stuff that much anymore. I've watched a few documentaries on metal music, origins, and what made them the way the are. Metal is good.
