First Nub wasn't all that great...

Smoked my first Nub (Habano) last night and I came away less than impressed.  Difficult to smoke and half way through the tast and aroma became quite foul.  Just some general info...

I have to agree and had a similar experience. I really wanted to try after all the hype I've seen and heard and was not impressed at all.

everyone is different and has different palates. the thing I love about the Nub Habano is the consistent flavor all the way thru, perfect burn, and great construction. I love the flavor of the Habano. The Connecticut is just okay, and the Maduro is pretty tasty. The Habano is my favorite though. I would recommend giving it another shot.

I smoked one right out of my B&M's humidor. I tried it more to see how the little guys actually smoked. It lasted about an hour and the burn and flavor were consistant throughout. I think I did the Conecticut so it was a little mild. I may try one of the fuller ones in the future. But overall it was not bad.

I like the connie and the maduro. I felt that the Habano had a fake spicy taste to it.

I have had the conn and the cameroon so far. And I have to say that the Conn is ok, not too much flavor imo. But the cameroon I enjoyed. As for the Habano, I have one resting. A buddy of mine is obsessed with the Habano wrapper right now and just bought a few for his trip to vegas.

Heading to the Casino right now with a Nub Habano in hand! Hope it turns my luck around, taking a beating thus far! But I forgot my cigar earlier so something was missing.
  • ive really enjoyed the nub, im a maduro kinda guy, but no complaints yet for me.

  • I have had several Nubs and never had a construction problem. They have all burned perfectly for about an hour. The maduro is my favorite, but I also enjoyed the Habano and the Cameroon.

That's funny because I feel the exact opposite. The Habano has a nice savory flavor and the Connie is just meh in the flavor dept. Lot's of no smoke but that's it. Different people, different palate

My opinion on the nubs is that they are a "love it or hate it" cigar since they are one dimensional. That being said, I have to say I like them all, but the Connie is my favorite.

Coincidentally, I smoked my first Nub last night as well.....picked up a cameroon from my B&M. I was impressed initally-the burn and draw were good, flavor was ok. About half way throuh, though, it seemed to turn hot and the flavor was terrible. I may try a connie (give it some rest as well) next time, but my first experience was not great.

I really like the Connie. It's one of my favorites and I picked up a bunch in a trade so I will be all set come summer.

I will agree with you that this line isn't all that great especially for the price. 6 bucks can get me plenty of other cigars that are much better. Never had a foul taste or smell though. I like the maddy's and the cammies, but still there are better sticks for the same or less money.

I think you just have to wait around for a good deal on them and they are about 3 which aint bad. Im thinking that Cvencino maybe smoked a bit too fast or had too big a coal goin.

I know quite a few that love them, me...not so much. I don't know what it is about them, but I find them all to be somewhat flat and uninspiring. But to those that like them, smoke them!
  • I may give it another try...maybe a connie.  And maybe I'll let it rest a bit longer too.  Like I said, this one I got to sooner than most because I was intrigued by the concept.  I will say the construction was nice, but again, the draw was difficult.  Didn't smoke too fast, but I was trying to build a nice long ash.  But it does sound like this is a love it or hate it cigar.  I'll withhold judgment until I give it one more smoke.  Thanks for all the great feedback.

Man I love the NUB Connie. It's is my favorite connie for sure. And my favorite NUB. I like the Habano as well. Didn't love the maduro, but I'll need to give it another try. I've got one resting for spring.

I loved the Nub the second I smoked it. The first one I tried was the Habano, which stands as my favorite of the line. I enjoy them all though. If you can ignore the hype, and the novelty of it, it's a damn fine smoke. I can see how it would be a 'love it or hate it' type thing though. I'd give them another shot if I were you. I know I wasn't into the Hemingway Short Story at all despite everyone's rave reviews. I would buy them from time to time because I really like the Hemingway, and it's a bit cheaper. They grew on me, and now I love them. Still, it all comes down to different strokes for different folks in the end.
  • Picked up a 10 pack of the Nub Cameroon's a while back. Smoked one with a week's rest...kinda blah, wrapper just didnt do it for me. Forgot about them until a few days ago (been hanging out in the back of the box for a month or so) and was actually very pleased with it. IMHO, forget about them for a lil bit and come back to it. Still, I dont think that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I enjoy them.
  • As many others have said, i enjoy the Habano wrapper the best.  Always great construction for an even burn.  I have 1 of the new maduros thats been resting in my humi for a few months now that i am really stoked about trying.
