My Big score ... and storage issues

Rub my head for good luck. I was at a fundraiser event last night and I won TWO boxes during the raffle: A box of La Gloria Cubana Wavell and a box of Drew Estates Dirty Rat (I've never tried the dirty Rat, so I'm looking forward to it). And walking in the door we got a bag full of great cigars, my favorite which was the Greycliff Chateau Grand Cru. I never had one before but I loved the 1666 soo much, I couldn't wait to light the Chateau. It exceeded my expectations. My question is about the La Gloria... the box is wrapped really well in cellophane. Does it still need to go in my humidor?

You dirty rat, you!!!!! Nice score! I've never had the dirty rat either. Nor have a lot of other people due to it's recent release from the clutches of Jonathan Drew! Get everything in that humi and let them rest for a while. You don't know where they've been......

How about if you have cooleridors or thermidors large enough to hold boxes... Can the boxes be stored in them? Should/can they be stored still in the cellophane or without the cellophane and still in the box?

Congrats on the score. I gotta start going to some events around here and get in on that action.

I've got boxes stacked in my coolidor and it works great. I do remove the cello tho. not sure if it matters or not. I doubt it does.

I wonder about that too, because it appears to be plastic wrap, not breathable cellophane. I always take it off before it goes in a humi, but I would think the boxes have spent a significant amout of time in the wrap coming from the factory, so its probabaly okay to leave the wrap on so long as its in a humidor.

    Sounds like it's coolerdor time.

Next time you're at your local shop look at how they store them. Most of them will be wrapped until they're opened up and put on the shelves. That's how ccom stores them too. I'm thinking it doesn't matter either way as long as the ambient RH and temp is good.

This is too funny. I just scored an (unexpected) box of LGC's (except mine are the Reserva Flechas Especiales Maduro). I know what you mean by the plastic wrap. Since my humi is literally packed, I put the box (wrapped) in a HD zip lock w/ beads and a hygro. I figured they didn't just wrap it before they sent it to me.
