First..I keep seeing the term "BORK" instead of BOTL (which I DO know) and I dont get the acronym. What does it stand for so I can be put to ease.
Second... Every damn cigar description on this site (save the Macanudo) says long finish one way or another. Is that referring to the smoking time or the last third of the gar or what?
And as a note, this forum rocks my socks! I have learned so much I can't believe my head hasn't exploded. I guess I just found holes in my knowledge and I just gotta know!!!!

2.) A finish is used to refer to the aftertaste of the cigar after you've blown the smoke out of your mouth and nose. The draw, on the other hand, is the taste of the smoke when you take it into your mouth.
there is "middle taste"
this may actually be the first time i have ever used this term, so if you have not seen it in my reviews then dont worry... its just a thought ive had.
the middle taste is the taste that you get out of the cigar after you draw it in but before you blow it out, while you are swirling it in your mouth and starting your retrohale.
there are cigars out there that have three distinct flavors that appear on the palate at those three times.
thoughts?
I would also add that a little patience when lighting the cigar can affect the flavors as well. A while back I finally starting making sure I took the time to toast the foot before you fully light it up, and even though I use an old school zippo, this does seems to help in the first inch or so of the cigar. I never took the time to do it before and as someone who smoked for years before I did this, its definitely worth the extra time.
I think they had an write up on this in last weeks newsletter too, for anyone who wants a description of how to do it.
1st time I have heard it described this way! I think Kuzi just defined Umami for cigar smokers!
BTW Matt, Did you also coin the term Barnyard? Ive seen that all over but the 1st few times (or many) were from your reviews.
i have always tried to describe what i am smelling/tasting the best i can. as a kid i spent a good amount of time on a farm and in random barnyards so i was familiar with the smell. there are quite a few cigars that have that smell before they are lit.
it may be a case of once you see it, its all over the place.
kinda like, i never really saw that many Subarus on the road till i bought one. now i see them all over the place.
