Bad taste

If you scorch the end of the cigar trying to light it, will it make the whole stick tast bad, or just the first part?

    A bad toast wouldn't necessarily result in the stick being ruined. The first .5 to 1 inch would probably be affected, but if you baby it and smoke it nice and slow, you should regain the flavor.

    After lighting and a few puffs to make sure the entire end is lit, I always purge to get rid of any residual butane taste or whatnot

    Iv been using matches and just got a lighter so the first one that I lit with it tasted a little funny at first, and then tasted like the rest of the ones iv tried. I think maybe the problem is that they are conni wrappers. the only non conni was a G2 turbo and that was tasty. So it could just be the wrapper.

    Are you just lighting the foot, or do you toast it first?

    Toasting, but still being new, I might be doing it wrong. letting the end get hot before puffing on it. To me the conni wrappers taste better when i smoke faster, tasting the filler and binder but not so much the wrapper.
