2011 NFL Mock Draft Contest

zeebrazeebra Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭
Dont know if we have football season or not, but I love the NFL draft for some reason.

Winner will get some free stogies, including an Opus X, Diamond Crown, Tatuaje...yummm.

We will do just the 1st round and you just pick the player which each team picks. Person with the most correct wins. Must be on good traders list as I want only members who participate to be part of the contest. Not like ccoms giveaways.

All entries must be entered by 3pm CST, Thursday, April 28th. Draft starts at 6pm CST I think.

You can edit your post as many times, but please do not change it during the draft or after as I will not be in town. (I'll be in Vegas). And I will not be able to print the sheets before draft time.

Just copy and past in your post and put the players name next to each team.

Round 1

1. Carolina-
2. Denver-
3. Buffalo-
4. Cincinnati-

Assuming no trades in round 1.

In all honesty though, Since we're making predictions . . . I think NE trades #28 to Buffalo for Jake Locker for Pick #35 and an additional second or third rounder for 2012. I also think The pats will still pick up Sheard with pick # 33 or buffalo's #35.

Bad A$$ contest, gonna take a little time this weekend to fill out. Good call on the trades and stuff, but hopefully not too many of them to confuse things.
  • I think I need to hurry up and get on the good traders list. I love the draft and would love to be able to be a part of this.

Nice mock draft man, I like it. You really think Carolina will hold out and not pick up a QB? I think they should, and love your first pick, but hey Carolina didn't end up picknig #1 becuase they have a smart GM, right? we'll see, 1 more hour.

    Happy Draft Day everyone.

Thanks man! I like yours too it's got a lot of picks that should happen but yeah teams are crazy....lol I really think with Rivera's background that he will go defense and have a player to build upon for the next 10 years. Although I just saw Newton on the phone and hugging his mom and dad so I think I was wrong. Scam Newton, I mean Cam Newton is a punk and all his baggage and simple system in college would scare me away. Oh man here we go, they're announcing now!

Just got back from Vegas! One of the funnier and crazier drafts I have seen! I'll see if I can tally up the fellas who took the time to post and send out the package monday

Just by glancing at the picks, looks like maybe 5 correct at most for anyone...lol.

hahaha, yeah I think I just turned in one of the worst mock draft of all time. HAHA. wow. what did I get 4? The trades make it hard to figure out. Its funny though, in a draft where the top 4 turned out as everyone thought, this was suprisingly tough to predict. Especially when I went against the grain with Newton not going #1. oh well, it was fun to watch

I think the Titans ended up with the best QB of the bunch though. Locker just has that Feel to him.

And I grew up near boston so I'm a pats fan and we had a typical BB style draft. Safe and boring. Theres nothing to complain about, with a tackle and trading down picking up an extra #1 next year, but theres also nothing to get excited about either. Especially since next year we probably won't make both #1s, we'll probably just trade down and into 2013 etc, etc. haha. we'll see. I personally think they need some attitude more than talent though. they need to stop their playoff losing streak. Ravens and Jets embarased them the last 2 years and the Giants back in 2007 before that. Their getting beaten in the trenches.

Anyway, this was really fun zeebra, thanks for putting it on.

WhaaaaHooooo.....Thanks Zeebra for the contest. Sorry you didnt get more takers on it, as I really thought it was the best one here in quite some time...not to mention some decent little sticks thrown out there as well. Gotta get in on any sports game. Though, I will gladly take the win...hell with 7 correct in this 1st round I might have taken it with even more guys invovled. PM with address incoming and thanks again for the great contest and in advance for the sticks man.

All good. I enjoy watching em and this made it more fun. For some reason, NFL draft is the only draft I watch, or else I would do other sports as well. I'll let you in on my NCAAF game I'm thinking of doing which will also include some awesome smokes.

    Initial thoughts:
Have all the teams listed, and everyone picks a number. Each number will be assigned to a poster. The teams will be assigned a number randomly and assigned to poster. That is your team for the season! Winner takes all type stuff. Or 2nd place, who ever gets closest to the championship. I think that will be fun throughout the season.

Right on man, I'm right there with you on the NFL draft being the most exciting of all the pro sports. I think its a combo of how impactful the rookies are in football, except QBs, and the few games that teams actually play. I mean baseball 162 games, Hockey and Bascketball are what 82?, so the fact that NFL only plays 16 games heightens the decision making process for each of these teams. I mean a busted first round pick can set up back 5 years, and I even feel that if you don't hit on your 2nd and 3rd round picks consistently too, then your gonna be in trouble. It is funny that the teams with long term success tend to be the most boring drafters when it comes down to it. The flashiest drafts on draft day is seldom the best one when you look back in 3 - 5 years.

And that sounds like a cool NCAAF game but man, I don't anything about college sports. i'm way too into the pros for my own good and since I didn't go to a football school didn't grow up in a football town, so I didn't grow up with a school I liked and I never really had the time to pick up on one. I think my wife is pretty happy about the fact that I keep it to pro sports. haha.
