Pipe Smokers...?

I was wondering what you use to light your pipe? My buddy uses his bic, I've seen people use matches a lot, then I have the butane however the flame always hits the pipe. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

My GF got me a Vector pipe lighter... it uses butane but it's angled into the bowl.

I acquired a Xikar X2? I think, it's an angled soft flame and also uses butane, just doesn't seem to last as long as my torch... not that I use my torch for pipe smoking

Matches. I have a pipe lighter, but it doesn't work so well these days.

I always use a torch. It's the only thing that gets the crack hot enough to produce any smoke and.... uhhh... that's not what we are talking about is it? *turns and walks away quickly*

Personally, I definitely prefer matches. If I'm in a particularly hurried mood, or it's too windy, I'll use a soft-flame lighter like a Bic. Using a torch is definitely *not* recommended, as it's very easy to burn the wood of your pipe.

Yep. I prefer matches. Always keep a few packs of the wooden matches you get from CCom, or for instance that all my local shops give you every time you buy something, around for this purpose.
