Monthly Sacramento Herf

jlmartajlmarta Posts: 7,881 ✭✭✭✭✭
A while back, there was some chatter about a mmonthly Herf at a place called Hangar 17. Since then, I've heard that Hangar 17 has closed. Does anyone know of any other ongoing herf's anywhere around Sacramento?

There are herfs all over Sacramento...... and the Surrounding Area, Perfecto is in Roseville. There is a HUge community In Sacramento and the largest group of is the Sacramento Cigar Society... the man that used to Own Hanger 17 , now owns Fatman Cigars In Sacramento.. I believe they have a Cigar Lounge, and at RedHawk Casino there is a Huge Smoking area that has Awesome Leather Chairs Lots of Tvs when Football season is on Its Awesome Pete johnson is going to be In Sacramento again this month It is going to be :

    Hey Marty,

Been lots of good info put out here for sure. As Joey and Christian mentioned, Perfecto is very nice, but it's not exactly a member's only place - it's an open tobacconist as well. Lil' more complicated than that, but not by much. It's also probably the closest to yOu, if you're still in the Yuba City area (it's off Highway 65 in Rocklin).

As Oz mentioned, there's the Sacramento Cigar Society that's still up and running from what I know (these are the people that used to do that Hangar 17 herf). I hear FatMan's is nice, and they definitely have a lounge there; I am not sure, however, whether the lounge area is member's only (I've heard conflicting information there). It seems I will have to revisit RedHawk, however, given Ozzie's input there - I finally spent some time there recently (1st visit), but only on the game floor, and was very disappointed. If they have that kind of lounge area that Ozzie describes, however, that merits another visit for sure.

If you plan on/want to coming down for something, let me know man. Would be great to herf with you again!

Thanks for all the info, guys. I'll have to do some cogitatin' on it.

My reason for asking is that the small, local herfing group that I used to enjoy has sorta gone by the wayside for various reasons and I just got to thinking that it might be pleasant to spend an afternoon, perhaps, just herfin', sippin', and shootin' the **** about nothin' in particular. If any of you guys ever happen to be headed for the Perfecto lounge, I'd be interested in maybe joining in.

When you enter the Gaming floor off the elevators its to the left in the High Rollers area.. you do not have to be a High roller to be there, Its been a while since i was there, but i hear guys talking about going there all the time at the B&M i go to. Fatmans Is working on a Memebers only lounge from what i have heard but from What i know its Open to anyone, thats where all the congressmen and Big time Buisnessmen in Sacramento hang out, very relaxed , a great place to network and Its not Snooty and you do not have to spend BIG money on drinks or BE SOMEONE to hang there. I guess i would say its more of a Cigar Lounge, not a WIne Bar with a Humidor.

Sorry, I don't. I did send you a PM, though, on another topic. If you want, you could include your number along with your reply to the PM.

Also, Hays, I'm curious about such things as protocol, dress code, which days of the week are better for you and what time of day, etc. I wouldn't want to show up wearing shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and carrying my own stick(s), LOL.

I assume most of the guys have a day job but I'm fairly flexible, being retired and all. On the other hand, The Perfecto Lounge is about 40 miles from me so an afternoon herf would probably work better for me.

  • i think weekends would work pretty good, i know they open around 10:30 so maybe something around 12ish and smoke a few cigars

Man, it must be cool to be able to go to a groovy lounge and hang out with other people who have a common interest. The Cigar Club (the B&M about an hour away) has a stellar lounge area with a full-service bar, a huge walk-in, and the owner/workers are all knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately, they are closed on Sundays, the only day that I really could go down there to hang out. And the few times I have been on a Saturday, the place has always been dead.

Hey Marty - caught your pm, replied, and I'll send my number along as well.

As far as 'protocol'...well, despite what has been implied here, Perfecto is not any kind of 'snooty' lounge. It IS indeed a wine/beer establishment with a full walk-in humidor, and a very knowledgeable owner. They also have the best prices I've seen in the Sacramento area. You can wear whatever you're comfortable in (yes, it has sort of an upscale feel, and on certain days you see lots of gents in there in suits, but ANY of the regulars can tell you that shorts and a Hawaiian shirt is just as good! lol). I've been there in everything from jeans and a t-shirt, to full suit. Like I said, it's just whatever you're comfortable in.

You can bring your own sticks in (I keep a locker full of my own smokes there), and there's no 'cutting fee' or anything like that. It's considered a matter of courtesy to make a purchase while you're there if you do bring in your own stuff - a drink, couple sticks, whatever suits your fancy - but you also won't get bashed if you don't find anything to your liking.

They're open 10am-10pm (or later on demand) Sunday-Thurs, 10am-12am (or later on demand) Friday and Saturday. I'm normally there in the evenings due to my work schedule, but on a day off I'm perfectly open to an afternoon herf. Knowing Joey's schedule, and having an idea of how busy Christian is, a weekend would probably work best.

Just please not memorial weekend (ill be in tahoe with my gfs family celebrating my gfs graduation from college), and the weekend after( i am going back to tahoe to pick up a pool table), other then that im fair game for whatever

Okay. I've got a little better feel for what we're talking about now. And I understand about a weekend day possibly being better than a weekday. That part might take a bit of coordinating on my part since our son, Mike, is one of my herfin' buddies and I'd want to be able to bring him along. Problem is, he's retired but his wife isn't so he's usually trying to keep her happy on weekends. That's not chiseled in stone but it'll take some organizing. I'll keep everyone posted on that.

And Oz, thanks muchly for the info. For now, I think I'll keep the data on Fatman's and the Sacramento Cigar Society in abeyance for possible use later - mainly because Roseville's a tad closer. And, I've been to Red Hawk once when I was on a club-sponsored campout at Jackson Rancheria. Red Hawk's really nice but a bit too crowded and noisy for my tastes. Just about any casino is.

So, how 'bout this, guys. I'll work on Mike to see what kind of weekend date I can finagle out of him and let everyone know. Christian has said he'd like to come and there may hopefully be others so let's try to hit on a workable date and make this happen - with the important help of Hays, Joey, and anyone else involved.

With any luck, we may be able to make it for early June.

Okay, guys, if it fits with everyone else's schedule, how about we do this on Saturday, June 4? Around noon or 1 pm? At the Perfecto?

The first half of June is actually very hard for me. During that time, I'm only available during the middle of the second week. But hey, I'm just the new guy, don't let my absence affect your fun.
