Interesting idea, but I don't know if they would give off any humidity that way.

Also: might it explode but be be frozen so you don't notice? Then start to thaw...

I wouldn't worry about the humi-packs; no need to freeze them. Florida summers can get in the high 90's easily, and into the 100's in the back of a USPS truck - every time Ccom has shipped to me, I've never had any problems with the humi packs
