Yes, it's another Vegas post

So i'm looking into a Vegas trip for me and the wife over Labor Day weekend and i'm looking for suggestions on where to stay or where not to stay. Neither of us are big gamblers and shopping won't be high on the to-do list either. I know the misses will want to hit the pool at least one day so a nice pool area will be a plus. Any help is greatly appreciated guys, thanks in advance.

MGM Grand has one of the nicest and plentiful pools in Vegas! There's a bunch of different pools, a lazy river an intense water fall pool and there is a Pool CLUB attached but I never went in there for there's a cover and such.

MGM is quiet though, no music just relaxation

I've been to Treasure Island's pool and it's small but the HOT TUB is big and they have a live DJ, so it's a party pool but about 1/15th of the size of MGM...

MGM has a ridiculous pool. I want to go back just so I can swim in it. They only let guests of the hotel into the pool area, so we sat outside the gate drooling.

There's plenty of shows to catch out there as well, if you don't want to gamble. Be sure to check out the fountains at the Bellagio. Also, take a bus ride down to Fremont at night, they have a light show of sorts and there's all sorts of entertainment going on in the streets, like musical acts and stuff. You also don't get a barrage of cards being thrown at you advertising girls who will be at your room in thirty minutes. Walk the Strip and you'll know exactly what I mean.

The pool is definitely pretty small at TI. I've heard Mandalay Bay has a very nice pool/beach set up, but I've never been to it so I can't attest to that.

Most of the hotels have free "shows" going on outside after dark. Treasure Island has the "Sirens" show with pirates ships fighting. Mirage has the volcano. Hit up the Venetian for a gondola ride (not free though.) If you're into magic shows, go see Criss Angel's BeLIEve at Luxor. Fantastic show.

Also, along with avoiding the mexicans handing out the porno cards at night, avoid anyone wearing a name badge that says "Grandview Resorts". They're trying to snag bodies for a time-share presentation. They'll try to lure you in with all kinds of vouchers for food/gambling and cheap/free show tickets.

MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay have excellent pools. Definetely skip NYNY, it is small and in the shade most of the day. Harrah's pool is not good either, just a typical olympic size with nothing special.

Will be traveling there in October and staying at the Aria, but if the pool is a major attraction then MGM is probably the way to go.

I'd love to stay at the Aria... The new City Center seems like it's almost another WORLD on the strip...

Although I hope they've changed the pool area... The way the Silver sides of the center reflected light down on the pool it actually was so hot that it was melting plastic cups sitting on the tables.... YOWZA!

I saw a news story about that a while back. The sun got so hot in one spot that one guy could actually smell his hair burning.

Thanks for the advice guys, time to do some research.

Aria is incredible! The casino is extremely nice and well ventilated. There are numerous air intakes to clean the air that are part of the decor so you dont notice them. You can sit next to someone smoking and not smell the smoke! The pool issue is actually at Vdara which is adjacent to Aria so the pool at Aria is good to go. The Vdara pool issue has been resolved I believe.

Just got back from a week at Mandalay Bay. Great pool and great hotel, just lots of little people. The Venition is the big dog on the strip for pool, outstanding IMO. I looked at the pool at the Wynn, looked pretty good too.

City center is so big they put a fire station in the middle of it. Have fun in Vegas bud!

I'm heading out tomorrow for three days. Not sure where I'm staying, but I'm sure it'll be ridiculously hot.
