Cain Daytona

I tried my first Daytona the other day and had a bit of a surprise. Thank goodness I did a pre-light inspection of that puppy because I spotted a green object sticking out the foot end of the stick. It was a bit over 1/4" long and looked like a thin strip of plastic. I tried pulling it out with just my fingers but that didn't work so I got out my trusty pliers.

I taped it down so I could measure it. It was 4" long and was more like some kind of nylon than plastic.

I can just imagine what that stick would have tasted like if I hadn't found that. If it had been just plastic, I believe it would have broken when I tried to pull it out. Disgruntled torcedore??

this looks like a bit of the twine that they bunch hands of tobacco in during the fermentation process. a fiber got stuck to a leaf and was missed in inspection before the bunching.

    it happens.
