So what else is everyone into other than cigars?
By day I'm a computer geek, but I also enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, into jeeps, and enjoy working on things. i.e. yesterday I rebuilt the fuel pump in a small outboard motor for my fishing boat.

You and I have much in common (cept the computor geek part).
I'd add motocross/woods racing and lifting heavy weights.
Me and a couple friends are also trying to get a band together, but it's more of just an excuse to get drunk and make obnoxiously loud noise.
its not my fault beer is great. ( i didnt brew it)
Me too! Also, tube amps and stomp boxes. I also play in a band and do some fishing. That's about it, though.
i feel that they have less artistic options.
i enjoy building and modding because it gives me a chance to mess with the design aspects. my electronics are usually a bit on the simple side. for example:
the guitar in my basement has two humbuckers in it. each pickup has an on/of switch to it and a coil split. each pickup also has its own tone/volume. im kind of undecided on if im am going to do a phase/OoP switch. Its an old harmony H803 so the room is very limited. i had to do a bit of routing. ...still need to touch that up...
my last project was an old yamaha rgx 220. i refinished it with the image of Happy Noodle Boy. I replaced the Tremolo with a floyd rose. the pickups were replaced with DiMarzio PAF Pro in the neck and DiMarzio Steves Special in the bridge. the pickup selection is somewhat limited, however. its a 3 way switch: Neck, Bridge, and center two coils of each in parallel. one volume, one tone, and a switch that kills a bunch of the low end. this is the guitar that i use most of the time. it just feels good to me. its what i used in my last band that i played guitar in (I prefer bass). Its a good punk rock guitar. great mids and highs (especially with the bass kill on) and the cartoon on it is basically a stick figure flicking you off. worked well for the punk scene.
I do some painting, but nothing that would be considered artistic, just solid colors. I like bass, too. I usually go between that and guitar depending on who has quit recently. As for the amps and stompboxes, I agree that they're not very artistic in terms of appearance most of the time, but it is a pretty good feeling playing a show on a guitar you built, through your own pedals, into an amp that you also built. I don't blow anybody away with my playing, but I do have my tone dialed in like I like it.
What games do you play?
Oh and I'm a huge metalhead m/
