Thanks. @Yakster found it for me. I've already blemished it once. Maybe I should.

I vote smoke it, my figural meer has been dropped several times, had it's stem broken at the tenon, and I cracked the shank putting in a stem with too large a tenon, but I just superglued the chip back and it still smokes fine and looks good.

Burley Flake #1 in my Davorin Rhodesian morta (bog oak).

Do meers have screw in stems or normal mortise and tenons?

Both. Be careful if it’s threaded. Can’t remember if is clockwise or counterclockwise to unscrew. @Stubble @Yakster @Amos_Umwhat @Rdp77 ???

I’ve got at least one that’s reverse threaded. When you go to remove it just be careful. It shouldn’t be too tight. You should be able to tell which way it goes fairly easily.

If it don’t bother me, it don’t bother me. Just leave me alone.

Most modern meers have what they call push-pull tenons, they are a matched pair that screws into the shank and the stem and use a friction fit. When you attach or remove a stem, most of the time you want to twist in a clockwise direction. This is true even of a Briar because the shank of the stummel is drilled clockwise so you are twisting in the direction of the drilling which will be easier and not be prone to issues.

Make sure that the size of the fittings match, You can usually unscrew the push-pull fittings from the shank and the stem and replace both of them, many replacement stems come with the matched shank piece too.

Older pipes can come with bone tenons which thread into the shank or have tenons glued in.

Accountability complete for my unit. Now Wessex Curly Block in my favorite cob with some bold coffee. 👍

I guess I can only attach files if they are not cropped... 🤷‍♂️

I doubt that cropping has anything to do with it, it seems like a certain pattern within the image is causing the problem. I've tried cropped, not cropped, compressed, not compressed and haven't found a pattern.

Trying out HU Director's Cut in my J. Everett Boswellian tribute pipe. Director's Cut is lighter in flavor than I expected for the first part of the bowl but the flavor seems to be building now.

That picture doesn’t look right. Photoshop?

Something with the editing made it look weird. Here's a less edited photo. Sometimes it's hard to judge a photo on the small screen of a phone.

@Stubble I’m a sucker for cool skull items. Steve where did you get that awesome skull tamper. I’ve been eyeing the Yanik meerschaum skull tampers… But I don’t wanna pay 50% tariffs.
