AJ Fernandez Ad

JDHJDH Posts: 2,107
Anybody see his Ad in the Autum Cigar Journal? Maybe the best ad in the mag; it's a two full page spread with two Indiania Jones types (a Britt on the left, & a German on the right). Both are in some kind of Egyptian tomb with a heliograph of ancient Egyptians smoking cigars behind them, and they each have found the "Treasure" of an open box of Ovals, and the expressions on their faces is just what you'd expect of Indiana Jones. Terrific!

Sounds like a great ad, to bad his cigars don't live up to the hype.

I think I'm going to go have one now!!!! It's a joke... Not a cameroon fan, and fuente just does not do it for me. Jason loves Fuente and gets pissed when I tell him I'm not a fan so it's an inside joke. He sure does hate AJ though lol. I'll be hoenst, I can see why given the type of smoke he is and I'd imagine there won't be much AJ in my humi's in due time. When you only get 1-2 times a week to light up at most, he's just not first in line. That being said....I lighting up a fuente in T-minus 5 minutes LOL

Ha haven't seen it but sounds legit! I've only smoked the regular Oval robusto (i think) and thought it was good but nothing to write home about. Need to try the maduro.

My list of best cigar maker of all time is:

Cuba: Avelino Lara & Alejandro Robina

Dominican Republic: Henke Kelner & Carlito Fuente

Nicaragua: Orlando Padron & Pepin Garcia

    Honduras: Christian Eiroa

IMPO, there is no individual best cigar maker of all time. That's why cigar world is so beautiful and we have so many choices. However, Zino Davidoff's contribution to the cigar world also can't be ignored.

Nice, and you impress me with a respect for all cigar countries Rip. Not sure why smoking has a hatred for AJ, don't like it, move on. The Cuban fanatics trend to hate on AJ but every palate is different. Showing An obvious hatred toward a blender you have some personal grudge against isn't part of brothers a of the leaf. I like Nicaraguan, Dominican, Honduran, Cuban, I like cigars so I don't have a biased hatred toward a blender. Still wondering, did he murder your first born, or are you of the denial of the rest of the world catching Cuba type. Surpassing I would say when you look at consistency.

    this is a hardcore list.

I could argue that Zino Davidoff is the best ever.

    him or Robina

    or Lara

    as far as current...
    Kelner is pretty awesome.
    Eiroa is amazing as well.

I do have to consider putting AJ Fernandez in there also. i am fairly hit or miss on AJs stuff. there are some cigars that are amazing and some that im not into at all. there are things about his blending style that i love and there are things that annoy the crap out of me.
i will go so far as to say he is a great blender and knows probably as much as some of the above. however, placing him in the list as part of the "best ever" grouping is something that i cant do without more time.

Kuzi- very balanced analysis. Zino worked in many countries and simply difficult to put his name under one country. He is simply a legend in the cigar industry.

I honestly think AJ is getting better every year, the better tobacco he gets a hold of the better cigars he makes
