Cigar butts and ash

Does anyone save this stuff and use it for compost? Not sure if it has any benefits to soil or not but I really wonder.

    I throw all of my butts in the yard for composting and insecticide. I dump ashes in the trash but they would be fine for plant life.

    Yes, I heard that bugs dont like nicotine, so extra butts tossed around might keeps bugs away.
