Humidor questions?

So I ordered the 10 sampler and free humidor form here.

I took distilled water, wiped out the inside with a damp cloth, left the distilled water in a shot glass for a week. With the humidor I also got one of those cheap humidifiers.  I soaked that with distilled water like 3 or 4 times.  I bought the cheap wal-mart hygrometer, did the salt test and it was within 1, so the cheap hygo is working fine.  My humidty is staying around 83 to 84%

How do i reduce the Humidity?

Should I not have soaked the humidifier so many times?

Any insight or help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance gentleman.

the cheap humidifier is just that... cheap.
...heck it may even be worthless. the thing i learned early in this hobby is if you are gunna do it, do it right.

Do yourself a favor and get of of the humidity systems off this list:
    Heartfelt humidity beads
    Cigar.com Humi-Care Jar
    Xikar humidity jar
    drymistat humidity tube

any of the above will keep your cigars in the range you want them will way less hassle

Hey Magic - I did the exact same deal as you. I had a good long time trying to get my humidity stable with just the included humidor, but eventually I got it and now it's fine. Took me about a week as well, so I'm not sure where you're problem is, but even though the stock one was working fine I ordered some heartfelt beads too..
