Maybe the faster you do it the less people die in the long run. We leveled Germany, rebuilt it now a trading partner. We decimated how many in Japan, and rebuilt it and now a trading partner. How many more soldiers and civilians would have died invading Japan, who knows. Now our enemy is scattered all about with no real country to invade. Or too many?
I agree with this. Nobody fears us. If they did this wouldnt be an issue. when we were kids... we all got away with stuff... but we feared our parents. we feared something. these people need to know that we mean buisness. President needs to make a simple blank statement.... either you stop, or you will be eliminated.

    Aj
George Bush tried this method of halt or die, it didn't work. These individuals who are commiting these atrocity do not belong to a country as a soldier does. We are not fighting a country, but religious zealots. It would be hard to start a conflict against ISIS and be able to put boots on the ground with a clear exit strategy. All we would do is reenter an unending battle with no end strategy if we go back to a full scale invasion. I'm just not sure we're in a place to invest so much money in remaining the world's police.

We are in a war, or whatever they are calling it, that is not traditional ground gaining by invasion. This is different and we must adapt, especially on the propaganda aspects. Airstrikes should be targeting their resources as well as their Toyota's. Economically go after the oil ISIS make's tons of money from, the taxes they collect from Christians will soon run out. Intel, we need the best intel on the ground, our intel, not theirs. Choke off their re-supply routes and wipe out those that are resupplying them. If there is a city or other target with civilians/children maybe drop leaflets prior, then level it if you have to. When it's all done they will rebuild, up to them to keep it, it's yours but you better behave. Also use everything at our disposal, not just militarily. Drill baby drill, start a cyberwar, anything.

    And secure the border.
I'm not saying that we should not enter a combat situation to weaken or destroy ISIS's organization, but holding a full scale ground war, like the operations that took place in Iraq and Afghanistan, will only bring us back to this point when we again realize that this conflict is not worth the amount of American lives and tax dollars it requires to support. Taking back the seized oil fields should be a high priority. We need to cut off their funding and restore the funding that would go to the local governments and workers that should be receiving the profits from their oil. Keeping an offensive position and bombing them should help diminish possible new recruits from joining their ranks and keeps American service members father from harms way. It's also hard to win the hearts and minds of people if you level the place that they call home. Dropping leaflets justifying why we're destroying their homes is not going to make them feel any better that their house is now a pile of rubble. Unwarranted deaths of civilians and destruction of their homes and livelihoods will only create more jaded individuals that have feeling of ill-will towards America at best and radicalization at worst. We have also been increasing our oil and natural gas production and our country has been become far more energy independent then the past and has a projected date of complete energy independence by 2035.

Once we really start getting into this tactics will change and we should be ready, for anything. In war the weak get destroyed, in today's conflicts usually the innocent. These terrorist's embed themselves with the population making it almost impossible to not kill others, that is probably their best weapon. Maybe they let them, maybe they are forced to allow them to do this. But if they could bring the war over here how discriminant would they be in their targeting?

Ground invasion only if you go balls to the wall and stay for a while. These cockroaches run and hide to resurface later, be ready, keep a presence there to hit back quickly. Who knows over time they may start to understand us better and we them. At least tolerate us. If not, so be it all you can do is try.

If I was King Obama I would be partner with Israel, get cozy with Ukraine and start putting missile defenses in Europe to piss off Putin. We left them holding their nut sacks too. Bad decisions are made when you're pissed and Putin is pretty easy to read. I think we could turn this to our favor quickly if we just commit and do it.
