Hopefully Mikey G doesn't over extend/change the Torano brand.

How good is this brand? Should I invest in a few boxes? If so, which? I looked at their lineup and its huge.

Note taken. I'll get a box. Anyone else? I'm looking for recommendations to spend my money on.

You need Tony (0Patience). He is our resident Torano connoisseur. May be grieving now. Can't go wrong with the 1916 Cameroon. I liked the Virtue as well.

I think there are better cameroon wrapped cigars out there but none better that are this affordable. If I were to buy a box right now that would be my recommendation.

The 1916 is good. I also like the Exodus 1959, 50 year and the Master Blend, this one was a pleasant surprise. I'm well stocked on the 16 but not so much on the others.

This all started in 2007 when Torano partnered with CAO.
At that time, Torano had a forum with many Torano fans, myself included.
Before the Partnership with CAO, their loyal customers/fans were their primary concern.
Once partnered with CAO, in 2010 (or there abouts), the Torano website forum disappeared and those of us who were members (Toranosaurs) of the Torano Forums were a memory.

Then Torano and CAO went back to their own ways and Torano started shaping back up to their old ways of making cigars.

The economy, the strikes on tobacco in the US and a host of other events may have played a large part on the Torano family deciding to sell to General.
    Personally, it's a sad day.

Ash, as far as what cigars Torano makes that are good cigars, pretty much their whole line is solid.
I can't live with out the Torano 1916 cigars. They are my go to cigar.
The Salutem is another of my favorites.
The Hogshead is good, any of the Exodus and Master are great and I like the Fortress.
The Vault is a solid cigar too.

Hopefully, General will keep the lines as they are. They need to understand that a large percentage of people who smoke Torano cigars are people who if they change things won't be happy.

The problem I see with any General Cigar is that they are just adequate cigars. Nothing special.
It's almost as if they get to a point on a cigar and go, "Meh, it's good enough."

Anyways, that's my opinion on this.

I'll go back to my corner now.

    Something else to consider.
Torano also distributes Leccia cigars. So where that leaves Sam Leccia, I don't know.

A non-compete won't make any difference if he has no one to distribute his cigars.
Torano selling to General pretty much stops his contract with them, but he might have to find a new distributor.
Probably not a big deal, but I would imaging it's quite a headache for him to deal with.

Torano also distributes a few other lines like BOTL cigars and Esencia.

That was in reference to Sam "just getting back on his feet" he had to sit out for a few years because of his non-compete agreement. It ended in 2012 or 13.

You're absolutely right that this merger may end his distribution contract.

I really hope this doesn't mess up Leccia's distribution, cause I really like the White.

    Thanks snoobie! We luv ya!
I'm heart broken I tell ya, just heart broken.

I did send an email to Sam Leccia asking how this well affect him.
Inquiring minds want to know, right?
Maybe in a couple days he'll reply. LOL!
Actually, he's been pretty good about replying to emails.

This really bums me out as I love so many Torano blends and also jeopardizing Leccia tobacco ..... I'm on Facebook and Sam posted the link to half wheel and this is his comment ..... " Gang, I have a multitude of options, no need to be concerned at all whatsoever." This makes me happy and I'll need to load up on a few select sticks before General turns them to ****

Have to wonder how much the possible Tobacco Legislation had to do with this. Like with Camacho before FireRob enlightened me I haven't gotten around to getting to any Torano or Leccia stuff (just talking here lol) but I know there are a lot of fans of both. Definitely sucks to see another company swallowed up by a big fish but in the grand scheme of things it may be a smart business move for them.

There's a truck ton of news as to why this may have happened, also it is rumored that Sam will likely sign with General now, not sure how to react, it is possible for him to still end up at Crowned Heads, but sources are sighting him signing with GC
